ideas about space needed

My 6.5 year old loves learning about space, and he knows a great deal. Last trip to the Museum of Science, he knew more about black holes than the hired person talking about the traveling exhibit. He wants to learn more, but I'm having a hard time finding info in print that will expand his knowledge but isn't dry or written on a super hard adult level.
Are there any books that are great for space info?
I've heard good things about George's Cosmic treasure hunt by steve Hawking. So we are going to try that out.

Also, any good dvds I can get from netflix or the library? I'm going to do a search now and post my ideas.

eta: The Time and Space of Uncle Albert also looks like fun

I can't remember the email address right now, but last year I sent an email to someone at NASA with some basic information (name & address, grade levels of my kiddos) and they sent me a TON of teaching materials. Really cool images, a couple of posters, lesson plans... It was quite fabulous, and all totally free. You might zip around this page looking for it, or perhaps someone will post the email address again. I'm not sure whether or not they're still doing the same program, but it's a lot of fun.

My son has said that he wants to be an astronaut ever since he was two years old. I think we own every book written about space for kids. Go to Amazon.com and you will find all kinds of great kid's books. "I Want To Be An Astronaut" "Space Boy" "Me And My Place in Space" "The Planets In The Solar System" There are just too many to list.

Right now there is an experiment going on at the space station where they are hatching butterflies. You can find more info about this at:

http://www.bioedonline.org/

Also go to NASA.com. They have a kids section that has games and fun facts.

If you go to my blog:

There are pictures of the launch of the Atlantis on November 16. Pictures that we took in person. Also there are pictures of the International Space Station display. You can show him the rooms where the astronauts sleep, shower, use the bathroom. Things little boys are usually interested in. If you ever get the chance to go to Kennedy Space Center, you have to take him. My son totally loves this place. We've been there twice now.

I imagine that we will spend much more time at Kennedy before my son is an adult. Once you start this journey, it never ends.

My 4 year old loves the Usborne books--there's one in their "Beginners" series called "Sun Moon and Stars" that is really easy to understand, but may be too basic for your son.

There is also a Magic Schoolbus episode about space that she watched over and over again. We got it from Netflix.

We love George! We read George's Secret Key to the Universe, and are now working on the sequel, George's Cosmic Treasure Hunt.
