Where does your little one nap?

Where does your little one nap? DS (11 weeks) mostly naps in his swing, bouncer, car etc. Just wondering if I'm setting myself up for sleep trouble down the road. DD would only sleep in my arms for many many months and periodically thereafter. I don't have the luxury to do that with DS. Eventually I would like him to nap in his crib but right now it is just easier to put him in the swing/bouncer. Even if he isn't sound asleep he will lull himself into a deep sleep and usually sleep for a good chunk of time- making it easier for DD who is desperately craving mommy alone time. Any thoughts?

My son napped in the swing, bouncer, or moby at that age. He still mostly naps in the moby and sometimes on his quilt on the floor if he falls asleep bf'ing. I very rarely put him down for a nap in the crib.

DD is 5.5 months old and typically naps in our bed. Up until a few weeks ago, she would take her morning nap in her swing, but now that she is starting to sit up, she is pulling herself to sitting in the swing and it just isn't safe anymore. We have been trying to have her take her morning nap in her crib and so far it is working, but she only naps about 45 minutes to an hour there.

We started trying to put her in the crib for naps at 8 weeks, but often she would fuss and I would hold her or wear her and transition her to crib if possible. Over time she has grown to love her crib (w/no crying) and sleeps there for all naps unless we are out and about. She falls asleep independently in the crib now for most naps (4.5 months) and wakes up happy. She never took to a swing or bouncer though, but loved to be worn early on.

Most often in the Moby, but sometimes I can get him to sleep for 30-45 min in his cosleeper. Right now he's napping in his car seat, OUT of the car, which never happens, but I need to ice my neck so I'm happy!

I find it easier to vary the place where a baby sleeps so that I can be on the go and not have to worry about sitting at home near the crib/bed/etc. for every single nap. Both of my DSs have slept well in a variety of places.

At that age I think I held ds for most of his naps mainly because he wouldn't stay asleep if I didn't. He'd also nap in the swing for a bit and the sling if we were out. At this point (almost 6 months) he naps sometimes when we're out and about in the sling or stroller. I'm able to put him down more but I made a point to start doing that around 3-4 ish months because things just needed to get done. At this point he won't nap in his crib but its mainly because I just don't put him in it. He does however nap in my bed.

such a good question! I swear the "books" make you feel like a failure if your babe isn't sleeping in "their space" ie. crib or cradle by the age of 3 months. Talk about anxiety! i used to be able to get ds to nap in the cradle but lately he will just lay there for about 20 t0 30 minutes and then wake up and then want to be moved to the swing. although , the books make it seem like you will have to be swinging your 15 year old out in the yard if you keep practices up like that. pooey!

He sleeps in the crib. I've thought of just putting him on the bed since that's where he sleeps at night, but we just use the crib once he falls asleep on me.

DS naps in the Bright Starts Infant Seat. It's kind of like a bouncy, but it sits higher and it vibrate and plays music. I LOVE the thing. I don't know how I lived without it with my first child!!

In the car seat if the car is moving. In the Moby if mommy is moving. In his bouncy (also the Bright Starts seat) so long as it's vibrating (it has an auto shut-off). Or on the futon. He refuses his bassinet anymore, guess it's too small and cold.

DS is 8 months. 99% of the time, he naps in our bed. If we're out shopping, he sleeps in the Ergo without issue. If we happen to be driving at nap time (and he's not hungry), he'll fall asleep in the car.

He must be nursed to sleep unless in the Ergo or car, and he's never tolerated being moved while asleep. We got rid of our crib for this reason.

Sometimes on the floor on a blanket, sometimes in the sling, sometimes on the bed. Sometimes in the car (but rarely -- she often cries in the car).

Mostly in our bed, sometimes in the pack n play, in the moby, or the car.
But usually I nap with him, so its in the bed with me.

DS2 (5 mos) naps in a variety of places. If we´re out and about (which we usually are for at least one nap every day), he sleeps in the stroller bassinet. He, unlike DS1 as a baby, likes lying in the stroller, and will usually fall asleep in the bassinet even if it is not moving. Often, I lay him in the bassinet when we´re at home too, and if he´s tired, he falls asleep (unlike DS1 who either fell asleep in the Mei Tai or needed to be in motion at that age.) If we´re at home, he also naps on my back, in the cosleeper, or in our bed, depending on the situation.
