Suggestions for a bedtime prayer not specific to any one religion?

I'm looking for a simple bedtime prayer to say with my small kids. I'm OK with references to a higher power, but would prefer something that doesn't use the word God. Just something short and poetic that talks about who we love and what we're thankful for. Anyone have a suggestion?

Thank you.

how about just saying what you are grateful for at that moment? inventing a prayer from your heart?

I sometimes need a structured sort of prayer myself. I don't have it with me at the moment, but the book Earth Prayers has alot of good possibilities for prayers like this (and for meals and whatnot). If you could find a copy and take a look, you might find something that works for you.

Thank you! I found one by the same author called "Life Prayers" that I think might work even better- it really fits with my interfaith philosophy. And I do need a little structure to my prayers I think- probably my episcopal upbringing, I like my spirituality to have some gravitas to it.

I agree, I have DS write his own prayers. He is actually way better than me about remembering and insists on it every night! We call them 'thank you fors'.

Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition of thankful is
1 : conscious of benefit received

so it is to whom or what are you grateful? maybe when you know whom or what you are thanking you will know how to say it
