Help! I look like a cocker spaniel!

So I have had stick-straight hair all my life...until now apparently. After the birth of my son I cut my long hair to my shoulders, and it is suddenly curly!! I have no idea how to take care of curly hair, and some of the curls poke out and look silly.

I prefer to use products that are as natural as possible; I'm a big fan of Aubrey Organics. Can anyone recommend something to keep curls looking nice?

Mouse and a difuser on your hair dryer should work. Gel will make it hard and crunchy. My hair is frizzy/curly and mouse or curl cream works best then use the difuser on your hair dryer on low. I dont know about which ones are better than the ones you get in the grocery store, I stopped using anything on my hair and it mostly goes up in a pony tail.

*Sigh* That sounds like a lot of work.

I have never seen a natural mousse honestly, but I have not even looked at mousse since high school...a long, long time ago. Plus I don't use a hairdryer...my hair is pretty thick so it takes way too long.

Any other (easier LOL) ideas?

The only thing I can think of is put a product on it or braid it or pull it up. You dont have to dry it if you put a product on it. Mouse will get a bit crunchy but curl cream wont. And you dont have to dry it all they way, 5 or 10 min would work. Just to take some of the moisture out. I dont really know what you are looking for so sorry if this didnt help.

You could always get dreads

how curly are you? curly-curly? wavy more than curly?

i'm wavy and all i'm doing right now is putting some plain jojoba oil in my hands and lightly running it over with my head with a few big "scrunches" mixed in (if i scrunch too much i break up my waves and get frizzy).

my mom and sis are both very curly. i think my mom is just using a leave-in conditioner.

if i were you i would probably start with just a leave-in conditioner or jojoba oil and see if that helps at all with funny sticking out curls.

"curly girl" is a book you might wanna look at. there's also a "naturally curly" website with lots of info and a good discussion forum.
