Nursing tanks

Thread Starter
Are they worth spending the money on - meaning brands like Glamourmom and such? Or would my money be best spent on ones that I can buy at Target or The Gap?

I asked for a gift card to a local maternity shop for Christmas so that I could stock up on nursing tanks and possibly even nursing pj's, but I'm wondering if I should change it to a different store? The Motherhood brand nursing tanks are about $25 as well.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Also, how many do you have on hand? I could possibly see myself wearing them just about everyday - so I guess 7 would work?

I personally like the nursing tanks from Target, but I have heard of a lot of people that don't like them for various reasons. I am the shorter and smaller chested side and that may be why they fit me well.

No matter what brand you buy, I would say that they are totally worth it. I wear one everyday and I also sleep with one on at night.

I like the Target tanks as well and I'm a plus sized. I have one Glamourmom and it seems like it has less room than the similar sized Target one. It is longer however. I think I have 7 or 8 tanks total. They are all different shades (white, grey, black red brown) so that one is always coming out of the most recent color laundry.

For me, the 1 Target tank I bought was a complete waste of $. Can't recommend it if you are larger than a B cup. I'm very happy with my Bravado tanks, which have been worth every penny.

I have a Bravado and a Glamourmom nursing top. I like them both but prefer the Glamourmom. I did not buy a Target tank bc it didn't look supportive enough.

The Bravado is more structured, more flattering and somewhat more supportive but very low-cut and the nursing clasps are annoying. The Glamourmom creates more of the squashed-boob sports-bra look but is quite sufficiently supportive. It's less revealing and the nursing clasps are very easy to use one-handed.

I don't wear them that often - I usually just wear a nursing bra and a regular shirt. As far as I can see the main benefit to the tank is avoiding stomach exposure. I don't care about that at home and I barely ever NIP so it isn't really an issue for me.

I'm plus size, DD cup & I'm able to wear the Target tanks just fine. I love them for nursing at night because I wear a shirt over them but when I nurse my side & stomach aren't freezing(we keep it really cold in the house in the evening.

I got some nursing tanks from Target and Sears, and I thought they'd be great, but the shelf inside the bra wasn't big enough for me and when i'd put my arms up the elastic bottom part of the shelf would creep up and hit me mid-boob! I'm a 40DD, maybe E, and I got the 2X which I think is as big as they come, but I think they just make the tank bigger and left the shelf the same size. I've heard Glamourmom has some tanks with bigger shelfs, but I haven't wanted to shell out the money to try yet.

Me too!

The other problem with the Bravado one is that it has the pucker detail at teh cleavage line so it is not suitable to wear under tight fitting clothing.

I have the older version of the target tank and I like them for under work clothes. They have a booby cut out hole so to speak and the newer version doesn't, only a thin strip of fabric on the outer portion of the breast -if that even makes sense...

I also have a Medela one with the pretty lace. Um, can you say no support. There is not an elastic shelf bra in it so my boobs hang low in that one.

I like the Glamourmom one the best and for me the only drawback is the price...

If you have very large breasts (I'm a G cup) I wouldn't bother. I have a glamourmom one - I thought it would be so great. I cannot squeeze into it. Totally disappointing waste of money.

I only bought nursing bras after dd was born. I was an H cup so the options were pretty limited. Then when she was about 9 months I went and got Bravado tanks and I love them especially in this colder weather. I can tuck them into my jeans and it's a nice second layer. I am back to my pregnancy sized F cups and a Target tank would never work for me. 2 things about the tanks - they can take some wrestling to get on but I hink they are worth it once you do. The 2 bravado tanks I have both have different clasps - one i like and one i dont that can't be done or undone with one hand! I would not buy 7 of anything until I nursed, wore them for a while and see what you like best.

I hate the Target nursing tanks, and right now I'm a 38DD. My favorite nursing tank after trying many is a Melinda G

I love my Target nursing tank tops! I'm a 36DD, and what I like about it, is that it isn't contrictive, like a nursing bra is. I HATE bras, so that is another reason why I prefer the nursing tank top. Plus, I layer it with a shirt during the daytime and don't have to show my back/belly when I lift up my shirt to nurse.

The Target tanks are my fave. They are long enough so that you can maintain some modesty when NIP. I am largely endowed (DD) and plus size and they fit me very nicely. Also, $16 isn't a bad go.

I'm currently preferring the glamour mum ones, I got the long ones. You can try stuff on at Target, so why not just go try one of theirs on. Our local hospital shop sells the glamour mum ones, so I was able to try them on too before buying.

I wouldn't just go on your cup size, but on your relative proportions, by boobage I think I'd need an XL by other bits of me a M, I think I'm wearing L and they do squash me a bit, but they are working for me.

I have quite a few of the Target brand ones and I love them. They're great to just wear around at home, for sleeping, or for keeping the momma belly in check if you NIP and are uncomfortable showing too much.

Unfortunately, I think its a very personal thing and you may have to try one of each brand before you know what you will prefer. Of course, you may want to start with the Target one since it is the cheapest. Personally, I hate the Target tank (although I love their nursing bras), the fabric is just not stretchy enough for me. . .my breasts are very sensitive and I find the tank too hard to get on and off and too tight when on. (I am a 38 C while nursing.) I haven't tried the Bravado yet--not willing to spend that $--but I love the Glamourmom tank in the long length. Really comfy!!! The fabric is so much softer and stretchier.

I probably wear mine once a week. I'd wear them more, but I don't like the way they make your boobs look. . .uni-boob! And I have to wear breast pads for leaking and they always show through weirdly too. But under a looser-fitting shirt, like a button-up, the tank is great.

I love the Target tanks...the are comfie (though they are hard to get on) easy to nurse in, and I feel very sexy (like my boobs and tummy are firm - which they are not lol) when I wear them!

I've ranged in size from an F cup to a J cup during my adulthood, and I have never once been able to wear a "tank with a built in bra." Even the plus-sized ones are cut for D or DD cups at the largest, and I ended up (in the fitting room) with the elastic around my nipples! I suppose a custom-made tank top would work (such as one from www.decentexposures.com ) but I have no interest in tank tops these days and my kids have all weaned.

I managed just fine with regular blouses and T-shirts (loose fitting) with nursing bras underneath when I was nursing. If nursing tanks had existed then, I might have used some in place of nursing bras for extra tummy coverage- but really, I never showed much tummy anyway since the baby covered that spot when NIP.

Ok, so I am a 38D when not nursing. I was a 38EE while nursing my DS, and a 38 E now nursing my DD. I love the Target Tanks. However, they have 2 styles "sling" where the support is on the underside and outside of your boobs, and "thong" where the support is all around, and your boobs have holes to hang out of. I find the "thong" version much more supportive. In addition, the gray one are soft and cottony, while the black and white ones have more lycra like material. I personally prefer the gray ones. I wear them almost daily.

I have one from Motherhood, but I do not like it as much. I do not have any other brands.

I live in the target tanks. I have glamourmom and don't like how they fit - the sides under the armpit flare out (they were given to me so I never tried them on). Bravado fits the most flatteringly...tight along the torso so great for under clothes and makes awesome cleavage. Bravado is hard to close with one hand though and is much more expensive than target. Target is comfy, easy to open and close w/1 hand but can be frumpy around the middle. I'm a 32F right now and I am fine in the target camis for support. Target camis are also great for sleeping in and night nursing so my tummy stays covered and warm.
