Static-y Cat

Thread Starter
We're having extremely dry cold weather right now and our poor cat is super static-y. But, so are we. So, when we pet or touch said kitty, he gets a shock. How can I help him?

Thanks

Oh, poor kitty! What if you put a little lotion on your hands before petting?

I've heard that rubbing with a drier sheet is supposed to tame staticky clothes and hair, so you could give him a swipe with that before petting him -- but if you're anything like us, we don't own any drier sheets and I'm deeply suspicious of whatever they contain. I wouldn't want a cat to groom itself and lick up a bunch of fabric softener. I might just be paranoid, though.

I heard you could use a fabric softener cloth on staticy hair. Maybe it will work on your cat although I don't know if the cat should lick herself after maybe it is toxic. Otherwise, you can wet your hands with water before you pet your cat.
