Can baby sleep too much when in moby?

Hi all, very occasional poster here with 6 week old. I love the moby wrap but my son sleeps nearly the whole time he is in it - is there such thing as keeping him in the moby too long? Will he sleep at night if I don't take him out and let him wake up? He isn't the best (or the worst) night sleeper - one four hour stretch from 6:30-10:30 then a three hour then two hours usually. I would LOVE to move the 4 hour to something like 8:30-12:30 so that I can maximize sleeping when he sleeps but when I've tried to keep him awake past 6:30 or 7 it seems so mean. Any tips? Thanks!

Nate is also 6 weeks and he sleeps whenever he's in the Moby too. (sometimes this the only place i can get him to sleep at all -- he'll stay awake for hours fussing about, and won't sleep until I put him in the Moby). He does wake up when he's ready to eat and then I take him out. Sometimes if he's really sound asleep, I'll lean way over into his pack and play and then carefully untie the wrap so that he is put down very gently. He'll usually sleep in there a while longer, but not if I wake him up in the transition from pouch to pnp.
I'd love to hear from some more veteran Moms than me on this question. I tend to think that he can't sleep too much... but we're still figuring this all out

Sounds like a pretty good night sleeper to me. As long as the baby is waking to nurse frequently enough and gaining enough weight, I don't think they can sleep too much. Busy growing!

ITA w/ pookietooth. Relax and enjoy this time- it passes so quickly. My son pretty much lived in the wrap until he was 4 1/2 months or so

here too

my dd also ONLY sleeps in the moby! what's up with that?
i cannot put her down out of it, either, or she sleeps fitfully (spazzhands, etc) and wakes up either immediately or very soon afterwards.
however, she does sleep in the carseat as well. and, actually, i have a baby chair thing someone gave us that's like a baby papasan, (spelling?) and she will occasionally sleep in it if i put her in it from the moby.
i think what those apparati have in common is that she sits up in them and is kind of enclosed on all sides. hmm.
no suggestions, though. sleeping in the moby doesn't seem to affect her night sleeping, though, but she still wakes up every 3 hours with regularity to eat. it's not that big a deal to us to get her to sleep longer at this point though, and i get sick of how my back creaks up with a 12 pounder so i put her down-wake her up- from the moby pretty frequently. we're not on a schedule, but maybe we should be, i don't know. i'm still kind of in a fog at this point.

My experience has been that sleep breeds sleep. The more they sleep during the day, the happier they are while awake and the better they sleep at night. My LO spends several hours in my Sleepy Wrap every day -- the more I can manage, the better for her. To the Moby wrap poster: any chance you could tie it differently to give you more support? My baby is also heavy but my back feels great -- much better than with a ring sling.

thanks for the responses - generally I THINK sleep leads to sleep but then one day he slept the whole day and then was up every 1.5 hours all night. so there is a balance there I think and I want to find it!
