Lemon Chicken Orzo soup

I want to make lemon chicken orzo soup for dinner tonight. I have a fresh batch of chicken bone broth in the crock pot. I have never made that type of soup before, but it sounds perfect for this particular broth since I used a homegrown lemon as my acid this time (neighbor's tree).

Does anyone have a recipe to share?

Can I buy orzo at the regular grocery store? If not, what can I use as a substitute?

We're headed out to gymnastics and the grocery store is the only place we can get to between now and dinner tonight. If I cannot get orzo at a grocery store, where can I get it for another time?

thanks!

Sad, no replies. Well, how did it turn out?

I can find orzo at my grocery store every other time I look for it. Once I found whole wheat orzo in the bulk section, but it was clearanced because they weren't selling it anymore. So I bought it all.

I have also used acini de pepi or whatever it's called. I just grab the smallest noodle in the pasta section!

I've seen other people make it with rice, but that's just not the same.

This is my favorite recipe (it's not mine, if anyone knows, please credit) :

Soupa Avgolemono:
8 c. homemade chix stock
1 c. orzo
4 eggs/ separated
juice of 3 lemons
fresh ground black pepper.

This recipe will make a perfectly balanced salty, rich, filling, comforting soup. Boil broth, add orzo and simmer until tender 20 min. Whip whites until medium peaks, add yolks beating continuously, add juice, beating. Temper eggs with 2 c. broth, adding in constant slow stream while continuing to beat furiously so you do not curdle the eggs. Add egg mixture back to remaining broth and serve. When reheating, do not re-boil - heat slowly until very warm or you may curdle the eggs. Garnish with thinly sliced lemon. I sometimes add more than juice of 3 lemons, as the sourness is the best part of the taste! You should taste lemon, richness of eggs, salt of chicken, and starch of rice, in that order and you've made it perfectly. You can also add thin pieces of shredded chicken meat (pull off bone in strips), although classic recipes don't include chicken, vegetables, garlic or any of the ingredients many reviewers added to "fix" this recipe.

Ooooh... thanks!

I ended up googling for a recipe and had quite a time finding one. I loosely followed Rachel Ray's recipe, adding and substituting along the way. It turned out really yummy, but your recipe above sounds even better.
