trying not to freak out. It is on the right breast just to the right of my nipple. I guess I will call my dr tomorrow.....it's probably a cyst right? right?

Thanks, I am 39 and my last child (dd almost 4!) is pretty much weaned...lots of transition in my life so I am hoping it's just my body reacting to the changes. Sounds good, huh? This is the first time in 11 years I am not a nursing mama....so it's probably nothing. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Well, say our Dr this morning. I am scheduled for a mammogram tomorrow morning and an ultrasound. she said to expect that they will want to biopsy the lump. It's nothing, i'm sure.

I had a small lump under my areola, about two years ago. It turned out to be a milk-filled cyst that had calcified. It disappeared about a year later.

Me too. It really freaked me out though until I found out.

thanks everyone. Most stresful morning ever. The lump did not show up on the mammogram or ultrasound. The Dr said it was probably just breast tissue. Weird, but whatever. The did find a spot on my left breast that needs watching though. I will go back in 6 months. What a strange and exhausting morning. I am so thankful.

so glad that it seems everything is ok. keep those positive thoughts going!

Glad to hear the good news! I hope the spot in your left breast turns out to be nothing to worry about.

Thanks. Anyone have any experience with calcification? There is a 'cluster' in my left side that I have to go back to get checked. The more I process this stuff the more worried I get. 6 months sounds like an eternity to get a clean bill of health. My Aunt had this same type of cluster and it was cancer. She is fine now (been 8 years) but she thinks I need to have my results looked at by a breast specialist. I don't want to over-react and yet I am nervous. Thoughts?

You know six months is a long time to wait and worry. I'd ask for a specialist look at the results too for peace of mind more than anything else.

i have my first biopsy on my right breast in 2 days and my second biopsy on my left breast scheduled for 12/30. the left breast is the one they're more concerned about.

i would ask to see a specialist too. especially if you're worried.

meandk0610 - I hope your biopsy comes back 'clean'! I'll be crossing my fingers for you.

It 's so hard to know if I should be concerned or if I'm over-reacting. I just did not expect to hear, really, anything. I truly thought they would say I had a cyst and nothing to worry about. Now the window of 'what if' has been opened and it's hard to close it. I put a call in to my Dr to get more info. I really didn't process all they said...I kind of got stuck after they said their was a cluster on the left side to watch. damn lump, started all this and that turned out to be nothing! sheesh.

I finally spoke with my reg Dr and she wants me to see a specialist. She is not comfortable with them 'guessing' the lump is just tissue and that 6m is too long to wait on the cluster. 2 out of 3 Aunts on my Dad's side have had breast cancer, their grandmother, and one cousin. My Mom's sister had ovarien cancer. I have an appt Jan 14. The report from the imaging center was sent to me right before Christmas and did not match at all what they told me when I was there. I called for clarification and they basically said the report they sent didn't include all the information. Not feeling real good about the quality of care I received. So, I am glad I am moving forward to get this resolved. I am sure it's nothing but even if it is 'something' I think it will be so early it won't be a big deal.

meandk0610 - how did your biopsy go? Will be crossing my fingers for you on the 30th.

The waiting is so hard.

that's what happened with my ultrasound on the left breast - not all of the information included. hopefully, the specialist can get you in for the right tests pretty quickly.

my right breast biopsy came back negative. just trying not to think about wednesday's test on the left side.

good luck!
