I know I would have freaked out if the order was different.

rrs - that sounds scary!! I hope everyone gets feeling better.

Yep, this is true for us too. Dd ate every 3 hours all day and did a 5-6 hour stretch at night starting around 2 weeks. Ds, 3 weeks now, can barely manage 3 hours during the day (often 2) and does 3, MAYBE 4 at night. He eats A LOT more

Baby:
Matthew is 3 weeks tomorrow. We don't go back to our pedi until 2 months because he was a health, happy, chunky monkey at 1 week so she cut us loose He's very content, doesn't really cry, just yells at me when he's hungry or if I change his diaper (he hates that). He eats a lot, but otherwise he's doing great. He is making eye contact, cooing a little...puts himself to sleep (so cool)...can't complain too much.

Mama:
Feel a thousand times better than I did pp with dd. I don't know why, but emotionally I'm just way happier and less emotional. I'm tired, my neck is sore (bad nursing posture most likely), still bleeding...but otherwise good. Oh, and I was horribly anemic apparently when prego with ds so now I'm on a huge iron supp. every day and my energy is shockingly improved.

Busy busy with 2 kiddos....

I had my six week follow up appointment today. I'm 2lbs less than my pre pregnancy weight .... but this is not my pre pregnancy body!!! The doc said my uterus has not shrank back down completely, but that is normal. I just want my clothes to fit right!

The boys are doing well. I'm EBF one twin and the other is formula fed. I'm looking into doing a homemade formula for him though. At first he was biting me (my nipple is permanently disfigured to prove it), and then his latch just sucks. I'm looking into seeing if he is tounge tied. I take them to the chiropractor regularly, and today Clarke (with the bad latch) was subluxated in his neck and his jaw was off. So, maybe things will get better.

They are fairly easy babies ... I told my husband that if we only had one baby I would be bored! ha!

I feel so relaxed with my babies. I've always wanted to be a mom, and now I finally am! I just hope I feel this relaxed when they are two!!! I tell myself everyday that they will never be this small again, and it makes me cherish their little faces even more!

We're not using protection .... I'm hoping for that something will just happen somewhere along the line, and we won't have to actually 'try' for our next child (hopefully a girl!).

Thats all for now!

3hrs during the day? we don't get that with our 7week old...1.5-2 and at night once in a while 3.5hrs.

I should clarify that dd was WEIRD for eating that little and still being a huge chunky monkey. Ds is much more the norm for a newborn and I'm completely fine with feeding him every 2 hours all day...well, basically I'm fine with feeding him whenever he's hungry

I'm still having afterpains while breastfeeding, sigh. Good thing this baby is cute.

CarrieCo, I am NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT judging you, I PROMISE, I'm just madly curious because I've always wondered about situations like yours where two twins had such different needs. Why are you feeding formula and not pumped breast milk? (Again, NOT judging, I promise!!!! I totally think formula is a fine way to feed a baby!!!!) Do you notice any difference in them that could be attributed to the feeding difference?

I'm not making enough milk for both of them. If I was more disciplined and pumped every two hours, I probably could. But my nipples are sore! Whoever said that breastfeeding doesn't hurt should be slapped. Six weeks out and my nipples are just as sore as ever! A lot of the time I have to pump for Luke b/c he falls asleep at the breast and then wakes up screaming b/c he's still hungry. So, I have the pain from him wanting to latch on and off all the time and then still pumping for him.

As far as the differences between them.... like I said, I'm going to have Clarke checked to see if he is tongue tied.... and then today at the chiropractor she said his jaw was off. Luke always stickes his tongue out, but Clarke never does. So, that's the differences that I notice.

I hear you! This is my 4th baby and there are still things we're working out! We have a "perfect" nursing situation but it still involved plugged ducts, nipple soreness, engorgement, etc. I honestly don't know how I stuck to it with my first; he took 2/5 weeks to learn to nurse.

Hang in there!

it took my son and me 6 weeks to learn how to nurse. To make up for the slow start, he nursed til he was three

CarrieCo, that's awesome that you're feeling so relaxed with twins! I think i'd be going mental personally! I also like your easygoing attitude about "what happens along the line" re: having another. If we didn't already have four, I think we'd be approaching things that way as well. As it is, I need to suck it up and make that appt for an IUD....or something I hate hate hate drs and tests...I wish my body just had an "OFF" switch for fertility.

Nik is 1 month old tomorrow, and he's already up over 3lbs from birthweight. He is what you call a HEAVY wetter, as well. I am getting so sick of getting peed on!! I never had a kid who could soak thru a diaper in one go, but he's got that talent I am not diggin co-sleeping much because I am constantly having to change my clothes, or his, or the sheets, or all of it.... I just started using doublers and Small covers instead of NB--hopefully this fixes the problem somewhat. I wonder if his pee-capacity has already "outgrown" the KL0s, even tho I can still snap them..?

He rolls over from tummy to back pretty well already, coos and giggles, and grins so hugely at us

So... we dtd several days ago, and I think i PO'd my body. I had been having nearly NO lochia, and afterwards it picked up and was a bit redder. : Of course, I had also been *slacking* on my chlorophyll supps, so it could have just been a coincidence, or...? I feel just fine physically, but I did step up my supps again!

Well, I am supposed to be picking up the house instead of playing online....

we haven't dtd here yet. I'm still really nervous.

Hey when did yall stop bleeding? I'm 3.5 weeks PP here and still bleeding red. It had turned brownish around week 2, then started red again after a few days.

I'm 4.5 weeks out, and a week ago that was still happening to me--and I was NOT overdoing it. It's pretty much gone now, hope yours is gone soon.

I'm having the same problem, although not quite as severe. For now I'm sticking a washcloth between the diaper and the cover if I think we'll have to go more than 2 hours between changes. That seems to help some. I'm just not ready to move her up to Smalls yet.

My midwife gave me a recipe for homemade mother's milk tea that she swears by, if anyone is interested in increasing supply.

Oooh yeah, I'd love to know what she puts in hers.

I just bought bulk RRL, nettle, and alfalfa. I drank rrl and nettle all through the pregnancy and the taste has really grown on me. I added the alfalfa and was horrified to discover that adding alfalfa to the blend made it taste like goat butt. :barf Maybe I added too much? Has anyone else discovered that alfalfa tastes absolutely horrible?

I don't like the commercial mother's milk teas because they always have anise in them, and I loathe the taste of licorice in my tea.

It's great to read all the updates! Strange how little time I have now to be on the computer, lol

Baby Maia is 4.5 weeks old and weighs 11 pounds 2 oz. Her head is now 15.5 inches and she's 22.5 inches long.
She seems so big compared to Madeleine who was only about 7 pounds at this age!

She's doing great, more awake times now and she sometimes has such a serious, wide eyed look, but also has a huge big smile and loves when I touch her nose and tickle her neck.

Her bellybutton started bleeding this week and the dr poked around till he found a granuloma that hadn't dried out so he added some silver nitrate and said no baths for a few more days again.

Mama I feel so good (physically) it's amazing. I started running again last week (more of a jog right now) and after my OB appt next week I will start at the gym again.

Still having a rough time emotionally and hopefully it will calm down. I'm crying, getting frustrated way too fast and sometimes just feeling overwhelmed! This alternates with the joy I feel when I'm with Maia and Madeleine.

Big sister Madeleine is having a hard time sharing Mommy. I feel so bad for her and this is part of the reason I'm upset because I feel like I have changed her life so dramatically and it's so hard on her
BUt then again, she loves her baby sister, kisses her all the time and when she holds Maia's hand and looks at her and talks to her, Maia has started to really respond to her and it is so cool.
sigh...

Hope everyone is feeling great today,

Deb

Mother's milk tea

My midwife swears by this stuff, even for moms who WOH full-time, or who are nursing twins.

1 teaspoon per cup of water of each of the following: Fennel, dill, marjoram, star anise, clove.

Simmer the fennel, star anise, and clove, covered, for ten minutes.

Remove from heat.

Add dill and marjoram. Steep, covered, for ten minutes.

Strain.

Make about 1 or 1 1/2 cups, and sip throughout the day. Do not overdo it.

Thanks for the recipe. I'm going to get that and drink a cup a day just in case.
Anyone else notice that one side produces much more than the other? I think it's ok so far because she still seems satisfied if she only nurses on the right side, but there is a lot more milk on the left and I really don't want to end up only nursing on one side for years!
I'm thinking maybe drinking a cup a day will just maintain the right side and hopefully not make the left produce a crazy amount!
