Dr Who

My daughters and I are obsessed with the new series of Doctor Who! I think there will be some official mourning in the house when David leaves We started watching the series on our PBS station. They run older episodes, so we broke down and bought the entire 4 seasons as an early Christmas present when they were discounted on Amazon. (My husband is astounded by the lack of productivity in the house since they arrived. ooops)
My question...
We would love to see the Christmas special this year. Will it be shown on Syfy? We don't have cable- so I'm not sure if the U.S. gets the episodes right away. I understand there is BBC-America channel, too. Is it on that? Once I find out where it will be shown, I can cozy up to my cable subscribing friends and family
Please help out a geeky girl and her daughters.
How can I see David Tennant's final curtain as the Doctor?

Awww Bummer! I just downloaded last year's special from itunes. I hope I don't have to wait until MAY for this year's to be available.
Are they showing any of the newer episodes on cable? I think 2008 Christmas is the most recent I've seen. (assuming it's after Journey's End)
Sorry...hehe... I'm jonesing for some new Doctor adventures!

BBCAmerica will have Waters of Mars starting December 19.

I've already watched Waters of Mars and can't wait to watch the next two on Boxing Day and January 2nd. I watch them the bad way. I'll be done watching the show when Tennant leaves.

When Eckelson left we said "how can we watch this funny looking man?" but it's the nature of the Dr.

Everyone remembers their first Dr.

To a pp, BBC America cuts out quite a bit to stick in commercials, so, not the best but better than nothing. The cut out the interview portion of Top Gear completely.

btw, both Tennent and Piper were on Top Gear...I love to hear Tennent talk about buttered parsnips. You could probably find that on youtube.

I love Dr Who. I'm not picky about which doctor. I've been watching a lot of Tom Baker on netflix.

I also very excited that Torchwood starts filming again in January.

It still doesn't fly for me, even though it's how the show operates. I started watching with when the last season ended. Dh started watching since season 1, so I knew they hired a new Doctor and I knew I would stop watching when Tennant left.

I love Dr. Who (from back in the day when Tom Baker, et al were on PBS). However, David Tennant is my fave doctor. I have been through many doctors, so I will give the new one a chance.

I love Torchwood too, but I am not sure what I will think since they have killed off most of the cast.

Torchwood is coming back that mini-series was just about one of the best pieces of tv I've seen in a while!

Terrific! Off to find someone with cable who might host me for a while on the 19th. Can't wait! I haven't seen Torchwood yet... but I love Captain Jack. Netflix....
As for the 11th Doctor- I'm definitely going to give him a chance. He has GIGANTIC shoes to fill, however. I just love 10. He's so quirky and quick. I'm going to miss him sooo much. sniff.

I am a HUGE NuWho fan... we had a TARDIS Caketopper at my wedding lol! It usually takes a couple months for Doctor Who episodes to show up in Canada, so we usually download them () but we ALWAYS buy the DVDs so I dont feel tooooo bad lol! I am hoping I can actually watch the Christmas special when my hubby comes home tonight!

I'm sad, that was the worst episode (end of time)ever.

The worst ever? Reallly Realllllly suspenseful. But I think it is the best set up they have done thus far. Another No Hope situation.

I don't think that Waters of Mars stands as a story by itself. Its more of a lead-in to The End of Time.

I think Waters of Mars was a great episode. I think it stands alone and is an appropriate lead in to the finale. We get to see him crack a little under the pressure of impending death...

I enjoyed part 1 of End of Time (I'm relishing any moments with docX, haha) but wish we were getting a three part finale. It is seeming really rushed. I wish RTD would flesh out some of this story more. Where has the Master been? Who is resurrecting him? How are the Ood connected? What's Wilf's destiny? Did I miss the introduction to Naismith in an earlier episode? It seems like alot to address in one more episode. This Doctor deserves a proper send-off and I hope he gets it.

I'm so grateful for youtube posters who are enabling me to catch these episodes

It seemed very rushed to me too! I enjoyed it, but it wasn't the ending I was hoping for with this Doctor. When the Doctor played by Chris died, I was all emotional over it. This one I wasn't as much, until he got to Rose.

Then again, anything to do with Rose and the Doctor makes me tear up... I think it amuses me husband that I am so heavily invested in their relationship. I was so upset when they first got separated!

I am a huge Doctor WHo fan too! I noticed you are all talking about the first episode of the End of Time, has anyone seen the second yet? I thought both of them were wonderful, the best episodes in a long, long time. I am sad to see David Tennant go but I do think it was time, the last few episodes before were getting a bit repetitive and boring.

Oh... WHO was that woman in the End of Time? Any thoughts?
