Anybody familiar Dentinogenesis imperfecta XPOSTED all over

DD1 first teeth has started to come up and I notice the have some yellow/amber color in it. I took her to the Dentist and they are thinking it might be that, it seems like there is not dentin and so we are seeing the color of the nerves, they are going to wait until her top teeth come out to be sure. The reason they are not diagnosing it yet is because we don't know anybody in our family that has it and this is a genetic defect. When I look it up everyone one I see one of their parents has it and others in their family.

I am trying to get information on this or wondering if it might be a wrong diagnosis although it fits the description. Also the type she have seem to be connected in Brandywine, MD which we happen to me 45minutes away from but we are NOT from this state, we are not even from the U.S. so I am not sure if it is just a coincident that we live in the state, maybe it is the air

Anyways any help would be great!!

In dentinogenesis imperfecta, the enamel would start breaking off because there is no dentin to support it. Also, is it the entire tooth or just spotting? Yellow/brown could mean fluoridosis or hypocalcification. Were you very ill at any time during your pregnancy with her? You can also have minor malformations in teeth due to maternal illness/fever.

The whole teeth is not completely up but from what I see it is not the whole teeth. I heard dentin is yellow and it almost look like I am seeing through the enamel and looking at the dentin. But the dentist say the dentin is missing so I guess I am really seeing the nerves? Not sure what to think of that as the teeth is only have way out.

I am not sure how she would get fluoridosis she is breastfeed only and I don't drink the public water. I buy Reverse Osmosis water, unless they add floride to eat it shouldn't have right? I did start to wonder about that. I also use that water to cook with (things like rice and oatmeal). But would use public water to cook macaroni since so much water is going to get thrown away.

I cannot think if I had any illness. I just know that during her pregnancy I had a lot of stress going on in my life at the time. So I am not sure if it may have been a nutrition thing. I also traveled twice out of the U.S. The first time I didn't know I was pregnant the other time I was 6 months pregnant.
Come to think of it I remember taking some echinacea on the first trip before I knew I was pregnant and I usually will take that if I think I am getting sick.

I just can't wait until her top two come in to see if it may be all her teeth. We don't know anyone on eighter me or my husband side with this problem but then again if someone of our family in the caribbean had yellow teeth they properly would send them to the dentist anyways.

You know, my dd had a defect in one of her front, top teeth. It was a yellow/brown spot that eventually became a hole. Our dentist determined it was a defect soon after the tooth came in. At first it was concerning, but it eventually became a cute trademark of hers. I was a little sad when that tooth came out. The dentist just told us to keep an eye on it, and to make sure she didn't have food stuck in it. Her permanent teeth are all fine so far (she has 7 permanent teeth now). She's never had any dental problems or cavities other than that little defect.

I just came to make a thread to ask something similiar.

My daughter has two teeth coming in, one is almost all the way out and it looks white. The one next to it, is starting to come out and it looks yellowish/amber. I havent taken her to the dentist yet or anything.

I did get sick while pregnant, had fever for like 3 days. I also took antibiotics, I dont know what kind and apparently there's a type that can be a cause for weak enamel on infants if taken during pregnancy.

Should I wait until the tooth comes all the way through before taking her to the dentist?

I would get a vitamin D blood test pronto. See The Vitamin D Council website for advice as to proper one.

What we eat and what we do effect the expression of our genes so it's entirely possible for this not to be expressed in say a vitamin D sufficient body and in later generations appear when vitamin D is deficient. A person from a family tree from the Caribbean with darker skin living in MD with less sun and less vitamin D (can only make D from sun during warm months and darker skin makes much less) would make sense for example, not sure if that is your family exactly but just to illustrate my point.

Yes antibiotics are implicated as well.
