For me: skippy peanut butter and margarine sandwiches on wonderbread. At least use natural peanut butter, real butter and put it on whole-grain sprouted gluten-free bread.

Everything. Truly healthy food was practically non-existent in our home

This. For example, I never had broccoli or asparagus until I was in my twenties...I honestly don't think my mother has ever bought any fresh vegetables other than onions and the occasional tomato or corn in the summer. Everything we ate was frozen or from a box or a can.

Oh also Slim Jims & grape soda!

Ugh, just about everything I can think of. A typical day when I was a kid: Cinnamon-sugar toast and cinnamon rolls for breakfast, Little Debbie and Doritoes for lunch, fried dough for dinner. My mom was completely clueless about nutrition.

We actually used to eat pretty good growing up, my mom is a great cook and made a lot of things homemade. Some of my favorite things as a kid (and still are) were whole steamed artichokes, brussell sprouts and greens and we always had fresh or frozen veggies.
I do remember having Little Debbies in my lunches sometimes and my kids don't eat those. I also think food is generally healthier these days or at least the healthier foods are better promoted. I was letting the kids watch a VHS tape of a Disney movie my MIL had taped for my husband when he was little and there were old commercials taped on there. Every other commercial was for McDonalds, double mint gum, Super Golden Crisp cereal, or nutra sweet!

My mom was actually a good cook and we ate a healthy meal every night...but, she did occasionally give us peanut butter and fluff sandwiches!

Fluff, good God, who thought of that stuff??? Gross!!

We ate generally healthy but my mom allowed snacks and they're not ever welcome in my house!

Ramen noodles! Can you say salt, fat, hydrogenated by-products and god knows what else is in those things

Fluff- plastic mixed with sugar

Jello- red food coloring and artificial everything

Nerds candy and Good n Plenty- tooth decay in a box

Kraft Mac and "cheese"- aka orange powdered mystery goop

Circus Peanuts- edible packing materials

Taco Bell- a $5 case of the runs, should be sold with toilet paper

Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Suzy Q's. These were always stocked in my house.

Fried bologna sandwiches on white bread. Fry up the bologna in butter, melt cheese on it while in the pan. Slather the bread in mayo and add the meat and cheese. Yum! At least I thought that when I was a kid. Now, ugh!

I'm thinking.. Tastycake krimpets (gross!!!), bacon double cheeseburgers and ham.

My Mom was an awesome cook and baker, but some of the snacks we had were the pits. Of course I loved it back then
sugar filled cereals, porky puffs, chicharrones, dolly madison sweets and kool aid

anything from the ice cream truck. i grew up in nyc and it came round every day in the summer. that stuff was such junk, but you know, i think it wasnt as bad bc it was only a few weeks each yr and we were outside all day running around instead of sitting in front of a glowing screen, so it evened out i guess.

Shredded spam and cheese open faced sandwiches...under the broiler so the cheese would melt...

Kool-aid, tropical punch

Nutella

Pop of all sorts, especially the diet stuff - it was healthy back then

"fried food night", this was the night when at dinner time my mom would pull out the deep fryer and fry up all sorts of frozen stuff like mozzerella sticks, hot pepper poppers, breaded mushrooms, chicken nuggets, and egg roll wrappers (just fried strips of it). One night I threw up after

fluff sandwhiches - just butter top white bread and fluff

cinnamon toast crunch, captain crunch, fruity pebbles, frankenberry, etc. - we had all those super sugary cereals

bacon - I still buy bacon on occasion but I sure don't cook an entire pound of it for two adults and two children

gravy as an everyday condiment - my mom would serve gravy made from those powdered mixes (which she frugally purchased in bulk at Sam's Club) with just about every meal, if we had meat we had gravy. Even now I get the urge to put gravy on meatloaf and make a volcano with my mashed potatoes.

store bought cookies - my mom makes great cookies but she would buy oreos, frosted animal crackers, fig newtons, chips ahoy, etc. to save time

country time lemonade - nothing lemon about it

artificial vanilla 'extract' - I want to say it's made from wood resin

bagel bites and 99¢ frozen pizzas

bac-os - those little artificial bacon bits for salad

little debbie swiss cake rolls, oatmeal pies, and star crunch

yikes, that's a long list!

No wonder I had weight problems until I moved out.

my grandmother was queen of the hot dish-some type of protein, a can of cream of mushroom, noodles, and potato chips on top. there was one hot dish in particular that I thought was the most delicious thing ever-noodles, ground meat and canned corn. that was it! I also ate a lot of weiners-handmade by the butchers' at least, but packed with preservatives, I'm sure.

ooohhh... I'd forgotten about Tastykakes. Butterscotch Krimpets and Peanut Butter Candykakes were a staple of my childhood diet. I would let my kids try them though, if I could ever find them around here that is, at least once. I loved them so much!
