does breastfeeding make mothers extra gassy?

Does breastfeeding cause excess gas in mothers? I wasnt sure where to post.. but anyway, Ive struggled with this problem ever since I became pregnant, and its ridiculous. Its affecting my social life, having to excuse myself every half hour to go to the bathroom, its so embarrassing. I can't figure out if its just breastfeeding hormones or if there is something else wrong with me. Is there any type of supplement I can take for this or what? Thanks for any help.

I don't have any suggestions, just sympathy! I have the same problem, and it's pretty embarrasing! Just blame it on the baby.

I suppose the hormone relaxin could also relax your bowels, which could cause gas. I have that problem too, as a matter of fact.

I always thought it had more to do with having been pregnant than breastfeeding. And yes, blame it on the baby--this also works for any kind of stain you find on your clothing as well.

I often had painful trapped gas when bf my son. My doctor did say it was something to do with bf hormones but since then I haven't come across anything written about it. Am therefore interested in others' experiences!
