We took my little girl at 23 months to Disneyland, CA and CA Adventure when visiting my American family. I grew up with Disney when I lived in San Diego as a child. My grandfather even worked with Walt Disney. DD is Minnie Mouse and Princess obbessed. She loved it and still remembers it (July 09). She was enthralled by meeting characters except the Queen of Hearts. I would go for it. We did it our 2 days so she could go back to the hotel and rest.

We took dd to Disney World when she was just shy of her 3rd birthday. She LOVED it. LOVED IT. It was non-stop exuberance for 5 days straight. She was completely TV-free at that point, and had just 2 or 3 DVDs she watched on occasion (only one of them Disney), and she still loved seeing all the people dressed up as characters, going on the rides, going to kid-friendly restaurants, and so on.

I am not at all worried about her remembering it. We have an album full of photos of her grinning from ear to ear and she talks about wanting to go back all the time. Even if she doesn't remember all the details, the joy she experienced at the time made it absolutely worth it. (I mean, she probably won't remember breastfeeding either, but that doesn't make me sorry I did it! )

We took DS for the first time when he was 8 months. We didn't go on a single ride, and still had a great time. Since then he's probably been 20 times. I had an annual pass in 2008, so we went quite frequently. He was 2.5-3, and loved it. He even enjoyed riding the Matterhorn roller coaster once he was tall enough, 2 months shy of 3 years old!

We haven't been since October 2008 and I am aching to go. We are planning a family trip for Peepers' 1st birthday and I can't wait!

My kids have had a blast every time we've gone to Disney World . . . my daughter has been at 8 months (ok, she didn't have a BLAST then, but she did like it), 4 years, 6 years, and 7 years. My son has been at 6 months (and he DID have a blast, he was very giggly and smiley), 2.5, and 3.5. We'll be going next when they're 8 and 4.5.

I think four is a great age for doing the park for a day.

We went last December the week my son turned 3. He went on every single thing, all the Fantasyland rides and even the big ones like Matterhorn and Splash Mountain, Pirates and the Ghost House. Then we went again last week, the week he turned 4 and went on everything. He loves rides though and is really brave and not scared. We also had Minnie and Friends breakfast and Goofy and Friends lunch. He had the time of his life.

I have taken and gone with children of all ages, including babies, and I think at the age of 3, they are finally old enough to go on a lot of rides. Before that, they still love it and can go on all the family rides. I'm not worried about things like the dark tunnels in It's a Small World, only because I was always holding or able to cuddle with my little ones in rides like that, and they loved it.

As for the people who worry their children won't remember...a 3 year old will remember for years, and well, that's why we have digital cameras and most of us have video built in, we can preserve those amazingly cute memories even longer.

Of course, Disney (and other theme parks) would not be as good for really shy children who get stressed out by crowds.
