nak

our LO is 10 weeks old, over 25" long, and weighs around 18 lbs. he's getting too big for his arms reach mini, and weighs too much for a pack n play bassinet. our room is too small to bring in a full-sized crib. dh and i don't want to bedshare for several reasons... i don't really want to fork over $190 for a regular sized arms reach co-sleeper, but i'm not sure what other options there are. any suggestions??

Here is what we did. It may not work for your space, but its been a great solution for us....

DS (almost 9 mos) sleeps on a (firm) twin size futon mattress that we put between our mattress (which is on the floor) and the wall. We turned our arms reach lengthwise and use it as a barrier at the end of the futon. Ours has a little storage space in the bottom which we filled with some toys, and we also keep his bed time books and his lovey in there. So DS can get to his toys in the am and we can stay in bed and watch him. It works out very nicely!

Right now DS does sleep with us for part of the night. Its great because I can go to sleep with him on the futon knowing he will just crawl to me when he wakes up and I can easily pull him into bed with us. We are working on transitioning him to sleep more and more on the futon, but that's been easier too since I can just slide from our bed onto the futon when he wakes up and then climb back into bed when he goes back to sleep.

I had a mini with my older kids but bought an original for this one. He's eight months and 18lbs. now and fits great in the bassinet. What about selling your mini for a larger one? We put ours on craigslist and it sold for $75 in just a couple days.

If you do decide to invest some money, here's what we use: http://humanityorganics.3dcartstores...y-sleeper.html

It works great, and will last us long enough... you never know when your babe will leave your bed

Thanks for the reminder about craigslist. I was able to find one for sale near here for $75, and we're going to go take a look at it this week.
