I'm currently feeding 9-week-old DS#2 the pumped breastmilk from the day before so right now, I'm only going into work 2 days a week (T-W). Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, I'm at home with him so I breastfeed all day. On Monday night, I may get in a pump late that night or early morning. While at work, I'm pumping 2x (I know I should be pumping 3 but sometimes work just gets in the way), getting about 8 oz total, and then I breastfeed as soon as I get home. I direct DH to give the fresh breastmilk and if he needs more to use the oldest from my freezer stash.
Now that my freezer stash is nearly depleted, I'm trying to figure out when to squeeze in a pump if DS feeds every 2 hours. Right after a feeding, I can only usually eke out maybe an ounce from the left and hardly anything from the right. My breasts also look totally different in size now even though I switch sides periodically. He is getting something from the right side, but after nursing for 20 minutes, he's still very hungry. My left breast now is almost a little sore from the frequent engorgement, nursing and pumping )(when I pump at work, I get 4-5 oz from that breast alone and barely an ounce from the right). The right breast just doesn't seem to get stimulated and it's not firm like the left one.
Anyone, I digress. How do I keep building a freezer supply if I'm using it as fast as I'm pumping it?
