baby hammock solutions!

so I've been agonizing over whether to use "other" brands of baby hammocks to replace my yoga ball bouncing for naps, and although I am going to use the stand and automated machinery of another brand's hammock so that I don't have to stand there and bounce her all day myself, my mom is going to make a Happy Hangup style hammock (http://www.happyhangup.com/) to use with it! we will use a smaller mattress pillow until baby R is bigger so she can't roll over.

I think it will eliminate the issues of rolling/tipping/tilting as it does not have a flat bottom/bed area; the sides of the hammock attach to the spreader bar independently of each other; it is not all one piece of material - therefore it can't slip through the hanging hook and become lopsided. also, you adjust the placement of the pillow to be flat or elevated yourself, or leave it out altogether. Plus I like how easy it is to see baby in it.
So happy for a safe solution!

I bounce, too! DS is 13 months, and we are still bouncing strong. I decided to try a hammock instead.

What stand are you going to use? We just got a used Happy Hangup, but we need a stand for it now.

the stand and automated spring unit is coming from Mama Little Helper, but you could buy a stand elsewhere. we have temporarily hung ours from a doorway with a heavy duty C-clamp, carabeeners and S-hooks while we wait for the stand. (and baby has been asleep in it for 2.5 hours while I sit still!)

this is the stand they are sending but we are NOT using this hammock as it is similar to the recalled Amby that had entrapment issues.

their regular stands are on this page but they were out of stock so we're getting the alternate one which I like better anyway...

Thanks for responding.

I saw this... http://jilliansdrawers.com/products/...miyolovehandle.

Did you just order the basic package and they told you you would be getting the c-stand instead?

I saw that doorway clamp too. nice, put pricey...

I ordered the Automatic Portable Baby Hammock. I wanted it to bounce itself! They were out of the regular stand so she asked if I would accept the C-shaped one.
You might be able to ask her if she can sell you just the stand. I think they are pretty common. Miyo uses that style in wood. http://miyobaby.com/products.html
don't know how much they cost but I think you can get it separately.
