Soo, my son is 5 months old next week and about 20lbs. He has HATED facing inward in a carrier, even when he was a newborn. I have a ring sling and he has never like it, either, and I've tried various positions with it. I got a Bjorn a few months ago, and he likes sitting in it outward, but he is getting too heavy, legs too chunky, I'm causing him hip damage, yadda yadda yadda. So what do you baby-wearing mamas suggest for outward carriers? I also don't feel comfortable wearing him on my back and he can't sit up unassisted yet. Thanks for any help!

The Pikkolo really is your best bet, especially with the addition of the babywearing support belt.
That said, even with the most ergonomic carrier for FFO, it's not sustainable forever, just because his weight on your front with his limbs and head being pulled towards the ground is going to get to be too much eventually. So I definitely recommend getting him used to a back carrying position -- that's much more ergonomic for you in the long run. Or you can transition to a hip carrier like the Scootababy, where he can see forward but it's more ergonomic than the FFO.
You can encourage him to enjoy a back carry or a hip carry by getting outside and going for a walk, giving him a toy to carry, giving him a special snack (when he starts solids), getting moving and distracting him in general.
