I'm in over my head with co-sleeping, help!

I originally wanted DS in our room, but not necessarily in our bed. We tried the pack n play bassinet for about 4 weeks with long sleepless nights and him ending up sleeping on me before I discovered that he would sleep through the night in our bed. It was amazing! He has been there ever since (he is almost 6 months old now) and I have to say that I love it. Granted, I would love an hour or two of stretching out and having my side of the bed all to my self, but I do love waking up next to my little guy.
Well, DH has been supportive, but he is starting to worry that he is going to stay in our bed for the duration and that it is going to be increasingly harder and harder to get him into his own bed. That’s where I need help. I'm just not sure which direction to head next. Here are a few of my questions:
1) Will it get harder to move him out of our bed the older he gets?
2) What is the best way to do this? If he is leaving our bed, it is only into his crib in our room.
3) I nurse on demand. Does this need to change?
4) Any other tips and/or suggestions?

Thanks!

Your baby is only 6 months old so I would not chnage anything for a while. Some people cosleep for years. When my DS was a year, he started becoming a very restless sleeper. He would flip, toss, and turn constantly therefore waking us both. I was also worried he would fall off as we were mostly on the reclined couch/bed. We decided to slowly transition him to his crib and it went great.

We started with naps which DH did as he is home during the day. After a bit, we started the night off with DS in the crib, then when he woke up, I'd take him to bed with me. Really, really soon, he started STTN, probably because he was comfy and not being woken up anymore. It was MUCH easier than I thought and we had such a loving, gentle night routine. Story, rocking, nurse, cuddles, bed.

I will still sleep with him when he's not feeling well or especially needy but 98% of the time he's in his crib. I do miss cosleeping but I know my guy is sleeping longer and better now. It makes no difference in my sleep as I get woken up constantly by my lovely neighbors anyway but that's another story.

Don't worry about changing things, they move out on their own in a natural manner slowly but surely

DD transitioned on her own at about 18 months into a mattress on the floor and she comes/goes depending on sickness, etc. at almost 5.....DH and I both love it.
