Gemstones and essential oil chakra balancing?

Was intrigued by a brochure I picked up at Whole Foods today from a local "doctor" who does "chakra" balancing with essential oils and stones. Has anyone tried it or does anyone practice this?
DH has a undiagnosable pain in his back and has been to a conventional doc, chiro, and acupuncturist w/o any noticeable improvement.

Yes, within a wider range of healing practices. IOW, not JUST those two methods.

Mainly in the context of weather control, but I suppose it does have other uses.

I've worked with a variety of healers and chakra balancing was one part of many aspects of the healing work. The methods varied on how each healer prefers to balance or clear or open the chakras. The chakra work wasn't the focus of any particular session, however. One segment of the synergistic whole....
