waffle makers

I want to replace my waffle iron, can't decide what to get. What, in your opinion, is the best one out there? I will be cooking waffles for 7 people, so I don't really want a tiny one. Ideally, it would be cast iron instead of non-stick, but I may have to sacrifice my ideals on this one. Is there even such a thing as a non non-stick waffle maker?

Subbing cause I want one. I had one years ago, but it broke and I haven't replaced it. But I want to.

I have the Villaware square one, it makes 4 big square waffles and it's the top rated one on Cooks illustrated, too. I LOVE it. SO much better than my old one.

I have a Villaware square one, too, and it sticks like crazy, no matter what I do with it. I am so frustrated with it, I just want to throw it away.

But I just saw this cast iron one too.

Oh wow strange! i've never had a sticking problem. Do you use oil in your recipe? Or butter? And preheat it for a while.

I love my cuisinart waffle maker. It makes waffles with heart shapes, though they make a regular round one as well. It's non-stick though. I've had it for probably 5 years now and I love it.

I just have a cheapie one... the trick, IMO, is to make sure its well greased - I melt butter on the stove then 'paint' it w/ melted butter between each waffle. It works, but I would like a square one (my mom used to have a square one, and thats what I wanted origignally but couldn't find one)

I have a couple of those stove top cast iron ones. They work for our purposes but I wouldn't want to try to make breakfast for 7 with them! The waffles are small and thin and it takes quite a while to crank out a few (at least for me!).

I'd love to have an electric belgian style cast iron waffle maker but I don't think anyone makes them. I've seen refurbished vintage ones online though. Someone needs to create one!!!

We currently have this one. We've had it for 5 years and had no problems with it. We don't make waffles too often since we've given up waffles and pancakes for breakfast (we do still have them for dessert) but my friend borrows it a lot and makes loads of them to freeze. I also paint mine with melted butter between every one or two waffles and haven't had any problems with sticking.

We had a Waring Pro waffle maker and DH (the unofficial waffle maker) LOVED it! So much that it broke in our move and we are replacing it with the same one. It has a temp control so you can vary the "crust" of the waffles and the browning. You literally pour the batter (it comes with a pre measured cup), flip and wait for it too beep when its done. I've never had a problem with them sticking (my recipe does have oil in it though) it does have a non stick griddle. Clean up is literally wiping it down. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
