Suggestions: book featuring the moon?

Hi everyone,

My daughter *loves* the moon since two full moons ago when we pointed it out to her. Since then, she notices — and wants to see — the moon in books.

So, besides "Goodnight Moon", which she has already, what other books have you come across that feature the moon in illustrations? It doesn't need to be *about* the moon, just a good book that shows the moon a time or two. Also, if it's available in board book format, all the better.

Thank you!
Tracy

We like "The Moon In My Room"

we had this same question a couple months ago, and our daughter fell in love with Bilby Moon by Margaret Spurling. We had it out from the library for months. the illustrations are adorable, and for her two year old world, it explained neat things about the moon so that she could understand.

she also loves Kitten's First Full Moon.

We have a moon lover here too...literally obsessed. In the car, looking out the living room window, everywhere we are...day or night...finds the moon & tells anyone who will listen all about it.

We got this one for DD for Christmas. It is a nice book & every page has beautiful moon pictures. Pages unfold so I hope she doesn't get carried away & rip them...but it was worth a try.

I wanted to go check this one out in person to see if I liked it too...she also loves owls so this could be a double winner...

Also need to check this one out in person but had it on my list...

Non book related...we love this at our house!
We had picked this up for her 2nd bday back in September...it was also when we were transitioning her from our bed to her own room & it has been worth it's wait in gold. It operates by batteries & hangs on the wall. She figured out the remote quickly & can click through all 12 phases of the moon on her own. It is her "nightlight" & also turns off itself in 30 mins or so. She loves it so much.

Wynken Blynken & Nod - Eugene Field, the one we have has illustrations by Johanna Westerman --- GREAT illustrations of the moon.

My daughter is similarly obsessed with finding the moon in her books. Each one of her going to bed books has the moon (Goodnight Moon, The Going to Bed Boy, and Wynken Blynken & Nod)- she loves to point it out to us.

My DD is also a moon lover. She likes "Goodnight Moon", and "I Love You, Goodnight".

My son calls the moon, "That silly moon", and screams with excitement every time he sees it, so I totally understand. He absolutely LOVES Happy Birthday Moon. It is a very sweet story about a bear who loves the moon so much that he buys it a birthday present and ends up getting his gift back, but he thinks that it is a gift for his birthday from the moon. It is definitely geared toward toddlers.

"I'll see you when the Moon is Full"
Book about a boy whose dad goes out of town for business and tells his son "I'll see you when the moon is full" so the boy draws a picture of the moon every night until his dad comes home.

My DS is the same. We have Goodnight Gorilla, which is an AWESOME cute bedtime book in its own right. But on almost every page you can spot the crescent moon and DS loves finding it and pointing to it. Highly recommended. After checking it out from the library several times we just wound up buying it!

My ds is obsessed with the moon too since a few weeks ago. Everytime he sees it (in a book, outside, on art, etc) he has to say "hi boon!!". So cute!

Another moon-lover in our house: DD has loved The Moon by Robert Louis Stevenson since she was 1. The illustrations by Tracy Campbell Pearson are marvelous -- there's so much to see! This is also the book that started her obsession with owls.

On the Day You Were Born also has a few pictures of the moon. My favorite is the page it talks about the moon pulling on the tides and washing the beaches clean for the new baby's footprints. On that page's border is all the phases of the moon too. I love that book!

I love that book, they read it at my kids Montessori school for each child's birthday celebration.

We also have a book called "Moon Plane" which has really lovely illustrations and a sweet simple story.
