How do you know when your child has weaned?

Just wondering...we are NOT at that point yet, but, I have thought we were at least 5 times over the past 6mos lol...he goes over a week without nursing sometimes and then he will want to nurse several times in one day...not worried or complaining or anything, just wondering at what point other people consider a child "weaned" I don't know to many people who have done CLW.

With DD we had an official day of weaning (her "choice) and so that was quite obvious. That said, she continued occasionally nursing (or trying to--- she just couldn't make her mouth work right) for another 14 months. So, we consider her to have weaned at 4 years, 2 months, though she nursed up til she was 5 years, 4 months.

With DS I realized he hadn't asked to nurse in a few weeks and I asked him about it. He was very proud and emphatic that he had weaned and he did never ask again. He was 5 years, 8 months. He also fully night weaned on his own.

My DS started putting his hand over my nipple and saying "cup." That was the end of it for us. DD is still BF.

dd just started going longer and longer stretches. When it had been about 6 weeks since she last nursed I considered her weaned although she has asked a couple more times (about once a month) since then.
