The Princess and the Frog

I took DS (5 years old) to The Princess and the Frog tonight and we both loved it. Has anyone else seen it yet? I am head over heels for the Princess Tiana, I even bought her cook book on the way home from the movies!

We saw it a couple weeks ago. Loved it! I didn't expect to like the music so much, but I'm definitely going to buy the soundtrack.

I think DS (6) actually enjoyed it more than DD (3), because he could follow all the nuances of the story better.

Made me really crave beignets, too!

Me too for the beignets, good thing they're in the cook book

You're lucky you got to see it early. I was waiting and waiting for our special date tonight, it couldn't come fast enough! The last movie I saw at the theater was King Kong in 2005, so I am not exactly a movie buff

Ohmygosh, I saw the movie this past weekend and I LOVED it! Yes, Princess Tiana was amazing - my favorite Disney princess yet. She was such a great character and I thought Anika Noni Rose who played her was totally amazing. Her song "Almost There" is my favorite - we bought the soundtrack and have been listening to it non-stop!

We saw it. I liked parts of it but not others. Seems like children under 4 were quite scared at times.

The music was fabulous.

I saw it with two friends, as we were prescreening it before we took children.
I enjoyed it, but DD will not be seeing it with me anytime soon. I found parts of it to be scary to me, and I had nightmares!

Now what her dad does is a completely different story...

My DH took the kids to see it and all three of them enjoyed it.

We loved it too! A lot! DD is 2 and DS is 4. Great movie. Great sound track.

I took my 4-year-old this week. I loved it and so did she. I thought she would be scared during some of the shadow parts but she wasn't. The voodoo stuff didn't bother her either. We bought some of the songs on iTunes. I also got her the sneakers, a journal, and the bandaids (all from Walmart).

So nice to see a princess movie with the message that you can wish on a star but then you have to do the work!

Oh yes - that's why I loved the movie so much, it had such a strong female character and a great message. I loved the ending too, a nice clever twist on the whole thing! I definitely want to see it again!

it was wonderful-my 2 dds and I saw it today and we all loved it (even my oldest, who is very anti-princess.) It was a valentine to many things-vintage Disney, New Orleans, food, jazz, to name a few!

We saw it today and we all loved it. Nobody got scared.....not at all.

I took my DD who is 2.5 to see it last weekend.

This was her first movie-going experience!!!

I thought it was superb! The music was thrilling and enjoyable, the characters were strong and not overly saccharine, Disney was obviously taking the mickey out of themselves(hahaha, no pun intended), the animation was excellent with brilliant colors and hues and the message was modern and wonderful.

I know all children are different but I just thought that the movie was so gently done, I can't see how a vast amount of children would be frightened.

My DD clearly didn't like The Shadow Man, which she told me in no uncertain terms, but she wasn't scared or had to leave the theater or anything.

I just wanted to mention-wasn't Jenifer Lewis/Mama Odie fantastic? Best part of the movie, imo.

We took our three to see this over Christmas weekend as their first movie-going experience. They loved it. Dh really liked it too; in fact, he laughed harder and louder at parts than anyone else in the theater, lol!

We are not big Disney fans here, but this movie was definitely worth seeing. It was so nice to see non-computer generated animation! The colors and softness of the lines were exquisite.

The music was fantastic (and I normally hate it when characters burst out into song.)

I agree about the message about needing to do the hard work was definitely refreshing. But my favorite message was from Mama Odie: learning the difference between what you want versus what you need. I also loved the contrast between the voodoo of the Shadow Man and that of Mama Odie.

My kids were the right level of scared at times, if that makes sense. I saw them get worried and nervous, but it wasn't to the point where anyone wanted to leave or couldn't watch any more. My youngest dd did seek reassurance a couple of times, though, saying, "It's a fairytale so the good people will be happy at the end, right?"

My son (almost 4) went with his grandma last weekend, and they both said it was good. He was able to tell me a lot about the story, and he said it was funny.

He wasn't scared, either, but he's not sensitive, and we watch things that are intended to be way scarier than anything Disney could churn out on a regular basis.

The dvd and blu rays are available for preorder on Amazon with a release date of March 16th.

My sons (5 and 3) saw it over Christmas with their dad and uncle. They really enjoyed it, even the 5 year old who is on an anti-'girl stuff' kick lately. The 3 year old did talk about "the shadows" quite a bit afterwards, and was a little scared the night after he saw it, but not too bad (ie., he was able to fall asleep with a little extra snuggletime, and didn't wake with nightmares). He still says he loved the movie.

we took our kids to see this tonight, and my 4 year old was very scared. I think it would have been ok if we were at home, but we had to sit right at the front so she could see and it was so loud and huge and intense at some of the voodoo parts. I also have a very hard time explaining what that was all about, since it wasn't really clear and I don't want to get into it any more than I have to.

I did think some parts were very cute or funny and overall it was a good show... just a little too scary for young kids.

I brought all my kids (6 year old, 5 year old, and 1 year old) to see this movie. At parts I was a little on my guard, thinking that the kids were going to be scared. But they were cool through the whole thing. The baby fell asleep at one point but she was completely cool the whole time.

I loved the movie myself. It was exactly what I expect a Disney movie to be.
