Losing weight while nursing?

Hello mamas-

DD is 13 months and still nursing away! I want to continue as long as possible: We are leaning towards CLW at this point.

I also want to lose about 15 lbs. I got to my pre-baby weight quickly PP, but it has been creeping up again over the last year. Mostly because I didn't want to deprive her (or myself) anything in a time when I just didn't know what my body needed calorie and nutrient-wise. But, I am so ready to feel slim and fit again! I'm a little concerned because I have read that weight loss can decrease milk supply or, worse, release fat-soluble toxins into the milk.

Anyone have any research or experience that could help me start this goal but also nurse well and safely?

Just loose weight like a normal person, slowly and healthy. Sure, monitor how satisfied your baby is at the breast but don't worry.

I would focus on cutting out refined sugars or other unhealthy foods, and see if that starts the weight loss. I eat as much as I want to of healthy foods, and I am 3 lbs below my post-partum weight, still losing slowly.

i've lost 17 lbs in the last few months. im also nursing my 16 month old and i didnt want to take any nutrients away from the breastmilk. just stay away from sugar and exercise at least 30 minutes a day. that's how i did it.

I weighed 178 when I gave birth and with walking 30-45 min most days I've lost 42 pounds of that probably 18 was baby/fluid. So 24 pounds. I still have 21 pounds to go and plan on doing it slowly. Stay away from anything white and refined and you'll do fine!

I eat like a madwoman so I really have to find ways to stay fit Walking is by far the best exercise I`ve found. Put the baby in the sling or stroller and just cruise around for 30-45 mins or so. It`s not only good exercise but also helps your mood.
