doll hair, question

So I am making a waldorf doll. I did a crochet cap for the hair and now I am knotting in the hair. I am wondering how much hair do they normally have? her hair looks massive and I am only half way done! I mean this is massive. I don't want to do a part because I want to be able to do different hair styles.

Dancing Rain Dolls has some good tutorial videos on their blog. This is one of my big problems with crocheting caps, too. How far are you spacing the hair knots?

I know you posted this question nearly a year ago, but I am having the same issue/worry!  Did you find a resolution?

What I find helps is blending different weights/thickness of wool, otherwise it ends up like a lion's mane
