Mary Washington Hospital Fredericksburg

Hi,
I have a friend who is giving birth for the first time at this hospital and wants to go natural. I remember reading some positive stories about MWH here a year or two ago, but I couldn't find them in a search. Can anyone please share or link me to an old thread.

It can be done but it is a hospital and your chances are better with a doula and if you are assertive and educated about hospital procedures.

I haven't heard many good things about Mary Wash to be honest. All the good buzz is about Culpeper, but that option depends on what part of the area she is in. There's also the Fredericksburg Birth Circle that meets (I think) the second Tuesday of every month? Someone feel free to correct me, and I'll check with my friend who runs it, I'm running on no sleep! It's a great resource! Let me know if you need any more info.

yup= great birth circle at the library. I'm in Culpeper- and am a homebirther so no advice on the MWH thing. I know several people who have gone there and all but 1 have had CSs.

I'm with a previous poster- I have *not* heard great things about Mary Washington Hosp. I think I heard someone (who wanted a natural birth) say, "well I ended up having a c-section, but my baby is here and that's all that matters, right?" and she was separated from her baby for a long time
Culpeper Hospital is a Baby-Friendly hospital... it's a little bit of a drive, but it might be worth it. If I don't do homebirth next time, I might do Culpeper Hosp (and I live down around Ladysmith, going towards Richmond).
