Monkey bread from scratch?

Does anyone have a recipe for monkey bread from scratch?

I have never made biscuits, have no idea what kind I would even make for this but, I want to give it a try. Anyone have a recipe?

Also, could I make the biscuits the night before and then assemble and cook Christmas morning?

Monkey Bread

1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast
3/4 cup water
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 1/2 cups flour, plus more for kneading
1/4 lb butter (you'll use less)

Heat the water to between 105 and 115 degrees F.
Dissolve the yeast in the water in a large bowl.Stir in the sugar, oil, salt and egg.
Stir in 1 cup of flour until smooth.Cover with a dishcloth and set in a warm place.Let rise for 15 minutes.

Stir down the sponge and add 1 1/2 cups flour.Blend until well mixed and turn out onto a floured surface. Knead 3 minutes (add flour if the dough is sticky)
Divide the dough into 32 pieces and shape into balls.
Roll each ball in melted butter and then in cinnamon sugar before arranging the balls in a ring or bundt pan.
Cover the pan with dishcloth and let rise for 25 minutes.
Preheat oven to 425°F
Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until light brown.
Remove from pan to a rack or plate to cool.
To make them even better (and more fattening), brush the tops with melted butter.

Awesome! Thank you

Do you have any idea if I can make the biscuits the night before and then assemble and bake Christmas morning?

I might assemble it all the night before and stick in the fridge, skipping the last rising step, then take out in the morning and let rise a bit before baking and you should be good to go.(it may rise slowly in the fridge, you just want to make sure it's about double what you started with before putting into the oven) It's really a delicious recipe, I make it pretty often.
