After My first baby-Menstural Question & More

This is the latest frustration after giving birth to My DS 9 months ago. (He is beautiful BTW, and we are blessed!) Did not have a cycle for about 6 months I think. Am now flowing very heavy for a few days, not unusual, but I can put a tampon in, and still flow like it is not even there. I will have trouble removing it, and find that it is almost completely dry- even though the liner/pad is soaked, and blood is coming out. This is SOOO frustrating. I have been to 4 OB/GYNs, all but the first said everything was completely normal. The first said my sutures had not held ( I had ds at home with a midwife, the additional 3 visits to OBGYNs were for second opinions. )

The "more" I have just started working out again. First OBGYN told me not to do kegels because it would worsen my situation. Still get a "heavy" sensation in the pelvic region when I walk a while, hold the baby a while, which is why I went to the first OB in the first place.

Does anyone have any experience with this...Any advice would be useful. We live in a relatively small urban area 200 thousand people, and frankly, I feel like I need to go to larger metropolitan area to find a decent doctor.

Are the things I am describing sounding normal wth a natural delivery, with only 2nd degree tears?

I don't think that sounds normal at all. I have three sisters, with 9 children between the 4 of us (1 was a c/s, though) and I know none of us have experienced anything like that, nor have I heard of anything like that before. I would definitely get a 4th or 5th opinion, because I can't believe that could just be something you should ignore.

Is the tampon going into your vaginal fornix (the indentation around your cervix)? That's the only possibility that comes to mind.
I've had that happen a few times and the blood flow doesn't really touch it much. Try not putting it in so far and see if that helps.

Also, I don't know if you've ever tried a keeper or divacup, but I can't recommend them highly enough.

that happened to me before i had a baby. i still haven't had my period yet after dd(12 mos). what i think may be happening is that you are inserting the tampon too far, so it's behind your cervix. if you feel around a bit you'll notice that there is space above your cervix in your vagina. your uterus is probably a little lower than before you gave birth. it's totally normal. everything falls a little after you have a baby. look into getting a diva cup, or a product called "instead". good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I think we will try and get another "opinion" and also try some alternative therapies/opintions. Also, if I don't push the tampon in this far, it slips out...so I may try diva cup or something like that. So frustrating!
