Vibrating bouncer, swing, other options?

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted in the infant forum since I've had a toddler now for months! But we're expecting #2 in March, and I have decided to look into bouncer/swing options for the new one. I DO babywear, so please don't get on my case. I need another option for times when I CAN'T have the baby on me and need to get something done. That's just how it goes sometimes. With DS I used an aquarium bouncer which bought me just enough time to take a shower every day, but now I'm looking for something a bit more cushy.

Anyway, my cousin had this, which she highly recommends and does look super comfy: http://www.amazon.com/Boppy-Cradle-C...pr_product_top

But I've seen threads on here in the distant past about swings being better, or natural hammock-type things, and I want to know what anyone who's used one would recommend. TIA!

I have one of those (for those same times ) and it does seem comfortable. I had a Fisher-Price bouncer when DD was tiny and she hated it with a passion. I got this from my SIL after her baby outgrew it, and as soon as I brought it in the house DD was trying to sit in it. She's a bit big now but she seems to think it's comfy.

If baby doesn't like it, I want to try a rocker, like this http://www.google.com/products/catal...wAQ#ps-sellers

You can make it stationary and vibrate like a bouncer, or push the foot back and rock it. There are a couple other designs/models too, I believe all are by Fisher-Price.

I personally like my bouncy chair better than my swing. The bouncy chair vibrates, which my DD loves. Also, I can keep my hand on the baby and bounce her while she's falling asleep. I can't keep my hand on my baby in the swing and I prefer to touch her as much as I can or if she needs it.

I have the boppy swing, which has a very plush, comfy seat. I suspect that the boppy bouncy is just as comfy.

I got the Boppy swing before dd was born as a gift and it is as it was brand new. I though DD would like a swing better than a bouncy seat and I had to pick only one. She never really liked it, would stay on it 10 min tops, with it positioned in front of a mirror and ONE DAY took a 2 hour nap in it when she was still very tiny.

She's one of those babies that likes to be held all the time.

Not sure if this addresses your issue, but I used a bouncy seat because it is portable. I can't leave dd in anything because her brothers are too rough and unpredictable at just 3 and 15 months. BUT, I do take it in the bathroom with me where I'm always within arms reach and I put her in it when I'm changing the bigger kids' diapers. Portability is the key - even strapped into a swing she wouldn't be safe from their "attention" unless I was right there, too. She spends most of the day in the moby wrap...

We have a Baby Papsan and a Fisher Price Aquarium Portable Swing. I would recommend both.

We have the Bright Starts Infant Seat and DS LOVES it, therefore I LOVE it. It sits higher than a normal bouncy and it's very plush and comfy. It is has an adjustable incline which is great, and of course it vibrates and plays white noise or music. It's pretty portable too. I would be lost without it. It's the only place he will lay/sit without me. I hold him the majority of the day and co-sleep at night, but for the in between times it has been a God send.

I had the boppy bouncy seat and this one and while both worked fine they didn't really accomodate my ds being long and he would kick the metal/wood piece. I didn't like the shape of the boppy bouncer because it was more round. My friend had this one and I liked it a lot when ds used it, it was longer shaped but still had a good bounce on it when your lo kicks.

HTH!

Well, you all have basically confirmed my suspicions; it will be impossible to tell which one will work for the new LO until we try it! Aaargh. It's the same with most baby stuff, I've noticed.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will definitely look into the recommendations.

We have the Boppy Travel Swing, and it is super cozy. I wish I had a adult size one, it is so soft!!! He'll stay in there for a good twenty minutes so we can make dinner or take a shower. Twenty minutes is usually his limit, but he has been known to nap in it for an hour from time to time. It's also nice because it folds up. Most other swings are such space hogs.

Can you borrow a swing and bouncer from someone? After you baby arrives, and you can tell what he/she likes better, then you can buy one or the other. For me this is our track record:

DS1- Loved the swing
DS2- Loved the bouncy
DS3- Likes the playmat
