If you were charting...

Our of interest - if you were charting and you knew the day you ovulated on ...basing your EDD on this: How close to that date was your baby born?

and

Do you think, knowing the day you ovulated gives you a much more accurate EDD - resulting in more babies actually born on or very near to their EDD rather than a guessed EDD of someone who did not know their ovulation day?

Just out of curiosity! lol

Interesting question. I'll have to look at my old charts to find out. I used my O to calculate my due date both times so I've never compared the two.

For my first I ovulated on CD18 and using that to calculate my EDD she was born 10 days early. Using the LMP method she'd have been 6 days early.

For Dd2 I Oed on CD 21. Using that date she was 11 days early. For LMP she'd have been only 4 days early.

So by using the O date they were both early than they would have been if I'd used my LMP.

DD was born 5 days after my EDD. I dont know when ds would have came because I was induced at 39w2d due to pre e.

Based on my known ovulation date when I conceived DD, her EDD was June 1. She was born May 23, 38w6d, effectively 39 weeks since she was born at 10 pm.

I do think it's more accurate to base the EDD on a known O date. My mom called not long after labor started, and insisted I could not be in labor because both her babies were "late" and I wasn't "late" yet. We were both born closer to 41 weeks based on her EDD (which was based on her LMP). The thing is, I remember my mom fretting almost every cycle about her period being up to 2 weeks "late". Hello, mom, you have long cycles! Just like me! So if she was routinely Oing closer to CD 28, and used an EDD based on her LMP and a 28-day cycle, of course she seemed "overdue". But that would mean we were also born close to 39 weeks (since her EDDs were wrongly set about 2 weeks early).

I don't know yet with this one, based on my known O date I'm 38w2d today (due on Christmas). Sometime soon.

Awww! - Are you hoping for a christmas baby?!.... I'm getting the fuzzy warm feeling inside hehe!

DS was born exactly when I predicted.
I don't have a regular 28 day cycle and I tried explaining that to my doctor but, no, the 28 day cycle calculator had to be applied nonetheless. So my official date was 5 days early.
It seemed so stupid to me. I could have ended up being pressured into an induction at 42 weeks, despite really being 41+2. Idiotic.
This time, I wasn't charting, but I thought I'd be clever and give myself a little bit of wriggle room by moving the date of my last period forward by a week because my cycle is closer to 33 days on average. But I'm hoping for a homebirth, and have just found out that you can't have one unless you go past week 37 so this might backfire on me yet. Can't win!

I'm hoping for an anniversary baby! December 17 all the way! Which is also, coincidentally ... 38w6d. LOL I had DH put in for his vacation to start that day, even.

IVF baby so I know the time of conception down to the hour - and she was born 12 days after her EDD. And I was induced, I expect she'd have been over 42 weeks at least if I hadn't have been induced as I was induced (necessarily*) with a low Bishops score and no signs of impending labour.

* I shouldn't need to say that, but I always feel judged for an induction when posting here.

For most of my births I knew the conception date, for sure. Those babies came within 1-2 days of my calculated EDD (266 days from conception date), with the exception of my son who came exactly at 42 wks (and I knew his conception date as well). So, when I know, I base all my EDDs on 266 days past conception (even if I have to alter my LMP for my HCP to get the correct date).

I knew conception day and ovulation day for my dd. EDD was February 18th, she was born at 38 weeks on February 4th.

Mt EDD based on my O date was June 13 and DD was born June 22. She was induced too, but I was dilated to 3 already so I think she would have come within a day or two anyways. According to LMP my EDD would have been June 11.

(Tessie, I know what you mean. I always feel like I need to justify my induction but I think that is more because of my own feelings about it than anything else. I was induced due to ruptured membranes for over 24 hours + meconium in the water + GBS positive + temperature starting to rise, so I consider it to be the best decision at the time, but still wish it hadn't happened. Thread hijack over, sorry,)

I was charting w/DS2 and he was born on his due date. I was on the pill when we concieved DS1, and based on my LMP his due date would have been nov 7. OB did an ultrasound and moved his due date to nov 1st. But now knowing I have about 35 day cycles, that would have put his due date around nov 14. I was induced on the 7th for being a week over due. So I have no idea when he would have come. This one seems to want to hang on till her due date too. Little stinker, I think tonight would be a great night to have a baby

my baby was born on my EDD, but 40 weeks and 3 days after conception. i had 25 day cycles back in the dark ages when i had a period!

I always know when I ovulate and base the EDD on that. My first was born on 39w0d and my second was born on her due date.

Charting, know exactly when I ovulated for all three babies.

Baby 1 was 39 w, 5 d
Baby 2 was 38 w, 5 d
Baby 3 was 42 weeks exactly. Longest two weeks of my life!

Knew conception date---birthed at 41 weeks.

I was charting, and had my first at 38.5 weeks.

The scan dating would have put me at 38 weeks on the birthday, but since I had my chart (and was in a country where women are trusted and respected over technology and doctors) my dates would have been honored in the event it had mattered.

I charted and knew my ovulation (and EDD) exactly, but DD came at 38w2d.

This time around I also know my ovulation date exactly, and this baby is measuring 3 days ahead of schedule. Of course it's too early to tell if that means anything, but there you have it.

With Ds, I knew my conception date (not charting, though, just knew when I ovulated, and there was only one time DTD within a couple weeks of that) and my due date, though not based specifically on that (they used ultrasound at 8 weeks to determine the date) was exactly right on what I thought. He was born two days "late". DD was 9 days late, and I was induced, and I had no idea when I conceived... soooo... no clue with that one.

This one, I'm having a homebirth (well, second homebirth, but first time going to a hb midwife from the beginning) and since I was "late" with both, we're using my lmp as my official "due date" because it buys us an extra 3 days at the end, but she did have me write that my cycles varied between 25 and 32 days, because it would buy us some wiggle room if I was a couple days before 37 weeks or a bit past 42. I also chose not to be specific with my due date with anyone - that way I won't get the "aren't you past due? where's the baby?" deal.

Based on charting dd was born 3 days after her EDD and ds was 1 week after EDD.
