My cat peed on my bed- what does it mean?

My three year old female cat, Angel, really let loose on my bed in the attic today, a giant puddle. She had been begging me for food down in the kitchen, and I had ignored her (she's already been fed). But just in case she was begging me to go down to her litter pan in the basement, I checked that the cat door was open and swung it open and closed so she could see it.

We've adopted her six months ago, and she has been perfectly trained to the pan. Her one quirk is a severe obsession with food -- jumps on the table, follows us begging, etc. But she is a sweetie.

My sense is that she was pissed that I did not give her more kibble, and she went to the spot that smells of me and pissed! I found her in the room right after, and I picked her up and brought her to the wet spot and said "Don't do this!" loudly, but I am not sure she can understand what I meant.

Anyway, why would she do this?? I've never had an animal do this ... except when my dogs are sick they like to vomit on my daughters bed (feels safe there I think)!

Any thoughts??

Peeing on someone's bed is a statement, right? Barring any illness, etc. Her health is excellent.

Could be a UTI. Peeing on your bed is sure-fire way to get your attention and tell you something is wrong. Get her checked out by a vet.

We always have kibble out all day. If that's what she's used to, only getting it at certain times may be frustrating.

Go the vet and ask for a urinalysis.
Let me know the results of what is found and I have some more ideas
She is not pissed
Do not bring her back to the spot, hold and scold, it accomplishes nothing at all, except confusing her and possibly frightening her a bit. Clean it very good with natural's miracle or another cat type urine enzyme cleaner.

Well ... she has never (or since yesterday) peed outside the litter box. And it was a massive amount. It doesn't feel like a UTI to me.

PS I am doing the Nature's Miracle ... round 1 was not enough, just poured another whole bottle into the bed. This is a majorly expensive bed that I got for my bad back. I will be SO pissed (pun intended) if we have to pitch the bed. Dog pee, kid pee ... that's one thing. Cat pee ... unbearable!

Cats don't normally pee giant puddles, so I would suspect a UTI or kidney issue.

no offense, but of course she didnt understand what you meant!!!! Shes a cat! You probably just scared her, but she will have no clue why.

UTI is my first thought too.

If not, have there been any changes or stress lately. Is her litter box frequently cleaned, have you changed litters?
