"Tea party" Birthday party food ideas?

Ds(3) LOVES having "pretty princess tea parties" and he is saying that dd wants her first birthday party to be a tea party....Really it's him that wants the tea party but since its such a cute idea we're going with it

Im trying to stick to all finger foods, so no cutlery. And the party is going to be around 3pm on a Sunday, by the time fam/friends/kids Im thinking close to 20

Im thinking:
finger sandwiches-peanut butter/egg salad? what else?
deviled eggs?
veggie tray?

And we're going to do vanilla cupcakes with pink, purple, and light blue frosting..well again thats what ds says we are doing

Sounds like a great party idea!

I think the menu looks yummy. Maybe add cucumber/cream cheese finger sandwiches? And don't forget the tea!

Little jam-filled shortbreads? And either cucumber and cream cheese or cream cheese and jelly sandwiches could be neat. In any case, cut the bread into shapes with a cookie cutter, and save the scraps for breadcrumbs.

Rice crispy treat princess wands... make a batch of rice crispy treats and use a star shaped cookie cutter to cut out some stars.... and stick them on a skewer.... dip in melted chocolate and cover with sprinkles and decorate with ribbons if you want. Finished product could look like these:

Don't know if your kids like them but scones or crumpets with jam are pretty traditional tea time foods. You could also do little cakes or petit fors.

I have eaten "fairy pancakes" at a fairy party, which were tiny lemon flavored "pancakes" ... I know you're not having a fairy party,, but they were a fun finger food.

Subbing! We've been thinking about doing a tea-party themed party for DD in February. Great ideas!

Ooh, I love tea parties! We did an "adult" tea party recently and most of what I served would be good for kids as well:

- various types of cream cheese sandwiches (i.e. mixed with salmon, fresh herbs, or sweet with jam/fruit) - you can cut them out into cute shapes for the kids
- other sandwiches: egg salad, verious cheeses, etc.
- heart and flower shaped scones (used DD's play-doh "cookie" cutters, which is all I had on hand at the time), served with flavored whipped cream (made with strawberries or other fruit)
- jelly-roll cake (make a spnge cake on a cookie sheet and roll up with jam and/or whipped cream)
- fruit kabobs (not traditional tea fare but fun and healthy for the kids)

Have fun!

I did finger sandwiches at my older dd's party this year... We did mock chicken salad, pb&j, hummus & tomato and tofutti cream cheese & cucumber. I made some of the bread in different shapes in these pampered chef loaf pan things I got on freecycle, so we had flowers, stars and hearts. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3438/...d043ee3e06.jpg

We also did a veggie tray, olives and pickles, etc.
