Toddler Mutlivitamin

Anyone have any recommendations for a good multivitamin for my 2 year old? I'm looking for something without aspartame, artificial flavoring and coloring and preservatives. Also, we live in Northern Canada, so at least 400 IU of Vit D would be good too.

Appreciate your help!

My DD loves these. DS used to like them but won't eat them anymore. He now really likes this. I also give DD cod liver oil and DS these. When DD was little I used to make her smoothies or just juice with Frog Greens, 1/2 a scoop. She'll still drink greens so you might want to go that route since your 2 year old is still young enough to be convinced to try things

I give DS Floradix Kinder Love children's multi and cod liver oil. He drinks them both right up.

Super Nutrition has a good one! I used their women's daily and prenatal ones because it was allergy free. The Mustard Seed also has some good healthy kids multivitamins. I bought some recently because they were cheaper than the adult ones and they didn't have Super Nutrition there.

My daughter takes the ones Dr. Mercola sells, mostly because they have chelated minerals that I wasn't able to find in any other multi. They don't have D, but I supplement that separately anyway to ensure that she gets enough (we give her more than 400 IU). We've been really happy with them and she adores her morning "bears."

Thank you soooo much blueridgewoman (and everyone else for taking the time to reply), I checked out the link and I am sold. I'll be ordering a bottle asap. Any suggestions on where I can get more info on how much Vit D she should be getting? I assumed 400 IU because that is what Public Health recommends for all babies/kids, but in Mercola's speel it sounded like she should possibly be getting much more...

Thanks again for your time.

Well, it really depends on if she's still nursing, what she's eating, etc. But unless she's eating lots of pastured lard or fortified foods, I guess you can figure she's not getting much.

Personally, my daughter gets 12,000IU per week, and she's two and weighs about 35 pounds or so. I make sure to balance that with plenty of Vit A (I try to do this from animal sources since veggies generally only contain beta carotene, which is harder to synthesize into A) and magnesium/calcium, along with K2 (from butter). It's a difficult thing to get all these in, but they really do all work together to bind the D, etc.

Keep in mind that I'm sort of making up from when she was exclusively breastfed/not supplemented with D and I found out when she was a year old that my D level was so low that it was one point away from qualifying me as having rickets.
