BG repelling help

hello diaper gurus!
i have bum genius 3.0, used them on my 2 year old until she potty trained. now i want to put our 4 month old in them (they're one size), but am finding that they are leaking when not all that wet. i'm thinking they're repelling -- i see moisture beading up on them. i've heard that dawn is a way to strip...but what if you have a front loader? won't all the suds from the dish soap cause problems and never come out? how else can you strip this kind of diaper or get rid of repelling?? thanks!!!

You can use Dawn - scrub it in a little with a toothbrush (sounds worse than it is), and rinse before you throw them in the washer. That should be ok on your machine.

My friend strips hers in the dishwasher! I would just stop it before you get to the rinse cycle if you have jet dry in your machine.

Some people have even boiled successfully.

What detergent are you using? My 2.0s started repelling *bad* about a month or so ago, and after stripping them repeatedly (w/ bleach, w/ dawn - scrubbed, let it set, rinsed a ton on HOT, put dawn in the load and just washed'm, went to the laundromat and washed on HOT 4 or 5x, first time or two w/ dawn then just water...), I finally switched to Planet detergent (had been using allens for 2+ years, switched to Ecos Free & Clear when started w/ the repelling issues)... immediatly following the switch to planet detergent, our repelling issues went away. Whether that was just coincidence or not IDK. But you can definetly strip w/ dawn in a front loader...

Thanks ladies! I'm using Country Save detergent. I'll try the Dawn with rinsing by hand first as you suggested. Otherwise I'm back to prefolds!!!
