I never went back

So, it's been 9 weeks since DS was born and I never went back to the midwive's office for my 6 week check. DS is so fussy that I thought it would be difficult to take him with me (besides that they don't allow children in the office due to the flu) and he won't take a bottle, so leaving him home wasn't an option.

Do you think it matters? What do they do at the 6 week post partum visit? It's pretty much the last thing that I feel like doing.

We had a combined mother and baby check at nine weeks. Baby got examined and weighed. He asked if I was ok, I said yes. He asked about contraception, I laughed and that was it.

So if you're feeling well, don't have any ongoing (or new) issues, stitches are healed etc then it probably isn't essential. But you could always call them and see what the check up involves so you can make an informed decision?

I also didn't go to mine. My pregnant mw went into labor 6 weeks early (the day before my appt). I was supposed to make an appt with her backup, but I just never took the time to do it. Sex is fine, bleeding has stopped; I know I'm okay.

I haven't gone to mine yet either. I feel fine so I'm in no rush.

I went to mine because I hadn't had a pelvic exam/pap in about 2 years & wanted one. I also needed my diaphragm fitted. On top of that, it was just really nice to hear my MW tell me how strong & healthy all my muscles & everything down there are. After 5 babies I was feeling paranoid that maybe things were falling apart down there or something.

But if you're not due for a pelvic & feel confident in your Lady Muscles (hahaha I just said lady muscles), then missing the appt is probably no big deal.

Things they checked: pap smear, muscles in stomach, perineal tear repair weight, vitamin D and iron test, and talking about how I'm feeling. Also, she weighed the baby and said that the baby was fine.

I'm so glad you asked this! I haven't had my 6 week check-up yet either and was wondering the same thing. I recall with my first, we had to call to make the appointment. I had wanted to make sure everything looked okay. It wasn't a big deal really, but I didn't like getting my cervix checked again! I didn't get the pap at my appointment.

I went to mine around 10weeks or so only because I needed a pap, it had been about a year and a half since I had one.

I guess that I'll give them a call. I really don't want to go, but I think that has more to do with worrying about DS. He's not taking a bottle, so I can't leave him at home and he doesn't do all that well when we go out.

I guess I have to get over that some time. It just seems so hard! Thanks for letting me know what happens at the appointment. I probably should get checked.
