Decorating purchased Xmas Stockings

I'm in way over my head just by posting in this forum, but I think this is where I'll find the expertise I need.

I have purchased Xmas stockings for 4 family members visiting us this year. I bought cheap ones because they have their own that are in storage because they are remodeling. I don't have any wish but to make them feel welcome and included. These stockings will probably just be used this one year.

That being said, I would like to put their names on them. The stockings are made from some sort of furry material and the white band at the top is very furry.

I was thinking iron-on letters, or glitter paint, or fabric paint. I think all will be kind of tricky to use since the material is so fluffy and furry.

Any advice? Is there something I'm not thinking of?

I do not have a sewing machine.

I don't want to spend a ton of time on these . . .

We use to use white liquid glue, write the name acrosss in the glue then cover in sparkles...thats what ours looked like growing up

That's what we did too! I don't think it would work on the high pile fur, though.

What if you did your lettering on a rectangle of felt and then glued it on, instead of directly on the furry part?

What about those self-sticking foam letters? You could stick them down the length of the foot part instead of very fuzzy cuff part.

Another idea would be to make a little felt (or cardboard) tag and hang it from each stocking. You could put their name on side and maybe a little applique unique to that person on the other. Or just something Christmas-y, like a felt tree.

Those are great ideas! Glue, then glitter on felt. Then the felt could go wherever.
