Homebirth in Maryland

Thread Starter
I am expecting my second; my first was an amazing birth at a free standing birthcenter with a wonderful Midwife in Annapolis, Maryland. The problem now is that I am living in Frederick, Maryland and with a 7 hour labor and delievery with my first I don't want to spend all the time laboring in the car with this one. Does anyone know of a Midwife that does home births in the Frederick area, other then Evelyn?

I feel this should not be so hard, but I can't come up with anything......I finally have it approved through my insurance and just need the midwife!

Thanks for the help

I believe these midwives do:

I'm in Hagerstown and my friend just had a homebirth a month ago. She actually used a midwife who wasn't licensed in Maryland, but was in West Virginia and Virginia. I'm not sure if insurance would cover her or not though. If you'd like this midwives number PM me and I'll get it from my friend for you.

Wasn't Erin with M.A.M.A.S. formerly with BirthCare in Virginia? The pictures are so small I can't tell. I think so, she was my MW for DS's birth, and I heard she'd left BirthCare to start her own practice in Maryland.

Oh, and BirthCare might also go up as far as Frederick. They do homebirths within 45 miles of DC and birth center births at their FSBC in Alexandria.

I'm just a few miles away in Carroll County and we're planning our second homebirth with an awesome CPM from Baltimore. You do need to travel there for prenatals, but it's a lot closer than Special Beginnings. Also check out the local tribes forum for more suggestions as well.

Feel free to pm me for her contact info, oh and she can take insurance too, which is a nice plus.

Judi Mentnzer came down from Orrstown, PA to DC for my twin home birth, and you might be close enough for her. She's amazing! My personal hero!

Karen Webster of WomanWise is in Elkton, and she is WONDERFUL. She's coming up to Conestoga for my homebirth.
