sleep schedule, what's your toddlers?

I'm trying to get DD to stay up a teeny bit later. DH is working until 7 some nights and that's normally just about the time we are getting ready for bed; in order for him to have some time I've been putting her down at 8:30....

So, she goes down at 8:30 and is up at 8am. Naps are sporadic, but mostly happen in the car on the way home from an outing...does that sound like a good sleep schedule to you?

And, what is your kids normal schedule like

My toddler twins wake up around 5:30am. They nap anywhere from 1-2.5 hours sometime in between the hours of 11am and 3pm. They go to sleep at night around 6-6:30pm. I'd guess they average about 13-14 hours of sleep. You said your dd naps in the car. Are they long naps or just short catnaps? I know my two need at least an hour nap to make it through the day and if they just get a 15 minute nap in the car it throws everything off because they are still tired but don't want to go back to sleep once we get home. I'm also not sure how old your dd is - maybe she's able to function without a nap? My two are 18 months.

As long as your dd is happy and well rested I think you should be able to go with whatever "schedule" works for your family. We tend to be early birds with dh getting up for work and the older dc's up for school so having everyone up early works out fine. We also get quite a bit of quiet time in the evenings as all 4 dc's are in bed early.

DD will be 2.5 at the end of this month. Up until a week and a half ago, DD slept 10 or 11 hours at night with a 1 or 2 hour nap. Now, she is sleeping a solid 12 + hours at night without a nap (except for a day or two each week). She is getting over a super icky case of gastroenteritis and it seemed to have coincided with her change in sleeping habits. Either way, DD is a fairly mellow little person and has periods of quiet time during which she will "relax." She is content to ride in the car seat or stroller and play quietly for considerable amounts of time each day.

DS will be 15 months soon. He typically sleeps from 9 until 7, and takes a 2 hour mid-day nap. There's quite a bit of variation around this, but this seems to be what happens most often. I'd like for him to be in bed by 8pm, actually, but we never seem to manage that anymore.

OUr sleep schedule is constantly changing as DD gets older - just when I find something that seems to work, she decides it should change again!

She's pretty much always gone to bed at 7:30 and wakes up around 8. Normally she goes down for a 1.5 hour nap around noon.

But for the past couple of months, she has been napping only once in awhile. I'm pretty sure naps are going to go soon altogether. I still put her down for quiet time, but she rarely sleeps anymore.

My kids are pretty much like clockwork, the only thing that varies slightly is their wake up time.

DD is 20 mos and goes to bed at 7 sharp. She wakes between 7 and 8 (occasionally later, today was 8.30) and naps from 1-4.

My 31 mos old DS sleeps from 7.30 or 8 till 7.30, and also naps from 1-4.

17 month DS sleeps goes to bed around 8-10, ususally 8:30. He get up 6:30-8:30 depending on when he went to bed. He naps for 2 hours in the afternoon around 12-1 ish.

He either nurses to sleep, or we go on a car ride.

Your's sounds great to me. 11.5 hours is pretty good IMO.

Ds is almost 3 and while bedtime is at 8 and wake up time is at 7 (in order to get his sister to school), what really happens is he's up to 9 or 10 most nights, sometimes later, because he just can't fall asleep. Then the next morning I'll let him be until I absolutly HAVE to get him up (7:30), but he's usually up by 7:10. He mostly doesn't nap, though he's exhausted. Lately, he's been taking a nap from about 3pm to 5pm (which is why is going to sleep time is so screwed up.)

No one in our house is happy right now with his sleep schedule. It's just to crazy but he's very resistent to us changing anything.

DS is 20 months and usually sleeps from 8:30 to 6:30, then naps from 12:30 to 3:30.

DD is 14 mo and sleeps from about 10 until 7 am, with maybe one wakeup in the night. She naps from about 2-3:30 during the day.

I've been trying to get her to go to bed earlier and am only being met with difficulty. I would LOVE to have more time at night with just DH. Instead, it's such a battle to get Nora to fall asleep that I usually pass out with her!

Dd is 14 months. We're up at 10, nap around 1, occasionally a nap around 330 if we had to get up early or she didn't sleep well, nap around 630, and bed between 1130-1230.

Ds is almost 3. He usually goes to bed between 830 and 9pm. He wakes up between 7 and 8 am. He usually takes a 1-3 hr nap in the afternoon. He's had the same bedtime ritual since birth and has been doing the long afternoon nap for about a year now.

Mine are 2 1/2. They go to bed at 7. Some days they get up around 6:30, other days they sleep until about 7:15. I can't see any pattern to why.

It's so much better than it used to be. Until a few months ago, DS got up at 5:00 every single day.

They nap about an hour and a half right after lunch.

My DD is 14 months.

Bed at 8, up between 6-7, nap at noon for 1 1/2 - 2 1/4 hours.

She just moved to one nap in the last month and I can tell she could really benefit from the longer nap, but is still working on staying asleep for it. I think we will all be happier when it gets longer!

Wow!!!

She goes to bed at 8pm and gets up at 7am (11 hours) and naps for 2 hours in the afternoon (down from 3 hours just recently). So I guess on average she gets about 13 hours of sleep per day. She is 32 months old.

I'd say if your child is getting from 11-14 hours of sleep then use whatever schedule works.

on good days my 2 year old sleeps from 7:30-7:30 and goes down for a 90 minute nap between 11 and 12. sometimes he naps a little shorter or longer, but on average I'd say he sleeps 13-14 hours per 24 hour period (including nursing at night)

We're mostly confused about DS's (20 months) sleep habits right now. Since about 2 weeks he has been changing his naps and will take a 1.5 - 2 hr nap starting anywhere between 12:30 and 2. Then, he will go to sleep at night between 8:30 and 9:45 and wake up between 7 and 7:30. No set rhythm to the new 'schedule' yet. He used to be like clockwork before.

ours was pretty consistent until about a month ago, when she went from 8p-6a with 2 hr afternoon nap to 1030p to 7a with a 2ish hour nap...I'm ready to return to the 8pm sleepy time.

Hunter is 2 1/2 years and he sleeps 12+ hours a night. 8:30 pm to 9 am. He naps about 5 times a week, normally in the later part of the afternoon, 2-4 hours.
