Where is my linea nigra??

I had the darkest linea nigras in my last two pregnancies but barely a faint line this time! I can tell you I don't have a pigment problem farther north!

I wonder what's going on? I had girls my first two times. Do boys make the lines less noticeable?

I met a midwife who could tell the gender by the linea, but I don't remember what the pattern was. I'm so pale, I don't get one... so I never knew if it was true.

I hope boys don't make a less-noticeable line! I'm having a boy and have a pretty dark line If that's true, I wouldn't want to see my preggo belly with a girl!

I only had a line with my first two as well. Dark with my first, lighter with my second, and non-existent with my third and fourth. For the sake of the discussion, my first two were girls and my last two boys, so...

I had pretty dark ones with my first two. Both girls. This is my 3rd and a boy and it's a lot lighter. Weird!

You can have some of mine. It's risen all the way up to my sternum!

I don't have one at all (and I'm having a boy) but I think that's because I have some strange pigmentation issues anyway. From my toddlerhood on, I've had patches on my skin with no pigment at all; I've been told it's a mild form of vitiligo.

Not in your ddc, but I had a very dark line with my first (dd) and none for my second (ds).

I do not have one yet either - 30weeks. Bummer. I liked it. I had one with my first (boy).

I don't know the gender of this next baby so I guess we'll have to see if there is a correlation. I read the line is due to an increase in estrogen, so this is why I was thinking girls make a darker line. But maybe just the fact this is a 3rd pregnancy may just make the line fainter too (body used to pregnancy by now)!

lol, I just posted about this in the weekly chat. I had a dark line with my boy, and hardly anything so far this time. We'll see...

I had a barely there one with my first pregnancy, and can't find one this time around - both boys.
I've never had one, and I don't have one this time either. I feel like I'm missing out on an important rite of passage!

I didn't with my first (a girl) or this one (a boy).
I've had 8 pregnancies and never had the line.
first was a girl had a line, second was a boy no line, third was a girl had a line, and now i'm having a boy and no line.

i knew when the line didn't show up i was having a boy, then the u/s confirmed it.

I'm thinking those who don't know the gender of their baby yet and have no line will have to post here when they have their baby to confirm or disprove the "no-line = boy" theory!!!

No line with my son and no line with my girls.'

Has more to do with your coloring than anything else. and genetics.

I had heard that about coloring...but how does that explain women who have it for some pregnancies and not others? My skin tone hasn't changed!
