I realize this is an older post -- do you still need help with this? I have not tried it with a Moby specifically, but with wraps generally -- so my suspicion is that the stretch and narrowness of the Moby may make it unsafe (like a stretchy, narrow pouch or ring-sling) but I can give you information.

You can also use a bed sheet, pashmina scarf, sarong, etc. as a sling, which might be a more safe, secure, and comfortable option, without having to pay for it.

Hello, I am not the original poster but I would like to know how to use the moby as a sling especially for nursing in the cradle hold. Any suggestions?

Here is a video for the hip pouch, which is the technique you would use.

However, as I said above, I believe the Moby is only about 20" wide, which is not really wide enough for a sling-style carry. It is also quite stretchy, and stretchy slings may carry an increased risk of a baby slumping into a position that will contribute to positional asphyxia.

With a wider or less stretchy wrap, this is a fantastic carry -- and I have never used a Moby to speak for sure about it, but just want to add the safety caveats, so that no babies are inadvertently put at risk by my sharing the info.

And again, it is very easy to craft a sling from a bedsheet, tablecloth, sarong, etc.

Would you tell us how to make a sling out of a sarong?
I also have a moby wrap, my DS does not really like it too much, nursing in it is hard for me and it does not stay in place.
As you said, when trying to nurse him in the cradle hold in the moby he is slumped in. Also when I try to carry him in the cradle position his head usually slumps on his chest...too scary!

Here are some tying instructions:

I don't recommend laying your baby flat as in the last set of photos, however.

Here's a great video.

A selandang, sarong, pareo, and kanga, and pashmina can all be used similarly -- the differences lie in the specific dimensions of the cloth.

Here's another video showing a sheet as a sling, using a slipknot. You can also use a cotton jacquard tablecloth (which you can frequently find on clearance).

Depending on your body size, a sarong may not work for you - I am a busty 12, and some of my sarongs just barely fit. I also have a great selendang I got for $3.99 at our Asian food market during the short time they had them. (The ends were never hemmed.) I find I get more purchase out of the Pashmina scarf I have -- one I grabbed for $10 that is less substantial and synthetic at a local festival, the other much nicer that my SIL grabbed me in NYC's "little India" section.

I can do a quick video tute of any of these if you need; my "baby" will be 6 now though so it'd be with a doll.
