31 week twins poss IUGR????

Hi...

DH and I are trying to adopt a baby and in September we were matched with an expectant mom due in February with twin boys. She is planning a c-section for early January because both are breech. Today I spoke with her and she said that the babies may have to be delivered early, as the babies are very small (less than three pounds) and there may be issues with the placenta not working properly. She has an appointment tomorrow and will learn more. She is just past 31 weeks.

I am freaking out a little here. What should we expect next? What is the likely NICU stay going to be? For those of you with babies born this early, what were your experiences?

Thank you all in advance. I'm going to try to get to get me house cleaned/ laundry done/ Christmas gifts wrapped/ bags packed... just in case because babies are in another state.

My youngest dd had IUGR and was born at 32 weeks. She was 2 lbs 6 oz, and 15 inches long. She did just under 6 weeks in NICU and came home at 4 lbs. NICU is stressful, and heartbreaking. But worth every minute to make sure you are bringing home a baby as healthy as they can be.

She is now 4, healthy, happy, and heck on wheels
