Plus sized mama and moving on from the Moby

I love my Moby, but DH won't use it - too complicated. My little guy is getting heavier every day (obviously), and I know that pretty soon I'm going to need something else - it's already starting to stretch too much.

So I'm wondering if I want 1 carrier or 2 (his and hers)... and what one(s) I want.

I was originally planning on getting an Ergo Sport, but my LO HATES tummy2tummy carries, which kinda limits the usefulness to back only.

So what easy-to-use carrier can I get for daddy to use with baby in an outward or side facing position - as well as back? Buckle would be preferable to ties.

But the thing is that we're both big people - and I know the Pikkolo only fits a 36 inch waist (like the reg Ergo)... DH is more like a 46 inch, and I'm closer to 50 - so something with longer straps is necessary. I was thinking of a woven wrap for myself - but how long of one would I need without the stretch of the Moby? When I first got the Moby, it was barely long enough to tie in the back (it's gotten longer over time as it's stretched).

The Ergo can be used for a side carry. They also sell extenders for the waist belt for like 8 or 10 dollars.

My favorite is a hotsling. It is a pouch sling. It doesn't have any ties or clips.

The Ergo can be used for a side carry, but i doubt it would work for the OP -- I use the waist extension belt, and I can't use the Ergo for a side carry because the shoulder straps aren't long enough. I do love the Ergo for back carries, though.

You might take a look at the Baby Trekker. I have a plus-size friend who loves hers.

I do also love slings for quick side carries -- I prefer a pouch sling for young babies, and a ring sling for older babies.
