Completely new to idea of EC, where to start?

Hi everyone!

So I had never heard of elimination communication before coming to MDC. I have an almost-7 month old... is this too old to start? What books do I read? I want to learn more and decide if this is something that would work for my family. Thanks!

It's not too old to start! The one book I'd recommend is The Diaper Free Baby by Christine Gross-Loh. (I think that's what it's called!) There are a lot of resources online as well. Marija at EC Wear has a resource guide, her website is EC Wear (sorry, I don't have time to look up the link! I should be showering right now!! It's right there on the home page of that site, though. ) There are other books, as well, but if I had to recommend one, that would be it. One thing about EC is that it can be done as part time or as full time as you want to, with or without diapers/training pants for back up. As an ECer myself, I think it's great that you want to learn more!!!

I would highly recommend reading "Diaper Free! The Gentle Wisdom of Natural Infant Hygiene" by Ingrid Bauer. Its very well written - I would actually recommend reading it even if you weren't going to use ec. There are very cheap copies available on Amazon
