So... EC "diapers" worth it?

I'm expecting my 3rd child in march and I'm hoping to EC at least part time this time. We're set on cloth diapers for the newborn phase (mostly kissaluvs and pocket diapers), but I'm definitely going to need a new stash of mediums since mine are pretty beat up after going through my other two children until potty training (skinny kids). So I guess I'm wondering - are the EC "diapers" worth it - that is, the ones that are, say, one-wet or easier to whip off or whatever. What's your favorite choice? I guess I'm trying to figure out where to begin. Insight?

Thanks

Sorry, I can't say whether they're worth it 'cause I managed to keep myself from buying any (read: I REALLY wanted some, but talked myself into saving the money ). You certainly don't *need* anything special, but I did love my all in ones that I could just take off one corner, fold it under her butt and pee her without really taking the diaper fully off. Good luck!

I agree that you don't need special diapers. Later on i like not waterproof trainers, because to put on and off, but that just me..

I do really love eca-pants, but my LO requires that all clothing below the waist be OFF before pottying. She's ok with flipping up the flap on the eca-pants. Needless to say, she's not even in long pants all that often. Pull-up anything must come off. You get the idea!! You could always wait and see what your little one is like!

I'm crazy about our waterproof EC store trainers. I especially love the ones with snaps on the sides, because they can be snapped off or pulled off.

I like the ecapants a lot too, but I only used them in the summer...I don't like them under pants that have to be pulled off.

ETA: For what it's worth, I'll be getting a stash of EC store trainers for the medium stage for my next baby and using those pretty much exclusively after the newborn stage. That's if I can convince family/friends/husband to invest the money for them, of course. But I buy them on diaperswappers.com, and I plan on selling them for pretty much what I paid once all my babies are grown!

We started relaxed ECing and cloth diapers at the same time when DS was 9 months old. Pinned PFs (coverless) worked well for us because they can be pulled down quickly, even though it takes a bit more work to put them back on.

I think the necessity of a special pant depends entirely on how easy you want to make ec. I purchased waterproof pull up trainers w/ aplix sides when dd was about 4 months old and I so wish that I had invested in them sooner. It made the potty process so much easier, therefore we offered more, therefore she missed less, then less laundry, etc. etc. It was entirely worth it for me. I got mine at www.sassycloth.com for $6 each and bought 12 of them. I think they are about $7 or $8 now depending on the size and how many you order. She charges less for the smaller ones.
We were only part time ecing but the pull ups made the process so much easier that we ended up full time ec during the day and part time at night.

I liked having a mix of waterproof trainers and diapers. Trainers will leak much sooner if you have a miss (esp a big one), so sometimes diapers are actually the easier way to go.

I totally need some of those!! I soooo didn't need another diaper to want to buy. lol. I want the "nonwaterproof" with fleece outer- that would only be $5-6 each. Do you think I can rationalize it? lol
