5mo old DS just crawled across the bed

several times! he's been occasionally getting up on all fours and scooting lately. it's far from perfect but I think he's going to be very mobile soon.

time to babyproof!

That's great! I was in your DDC so DD is the same age and not quite there yet but she can do a little army crawl or scoot herself with her face dragging on the ground while grunting and shrieking, hilarious! Congrats!

omg, so weird. My DS is 3.5 months. Last night, he flipped himself onto his belly, turned toward his dad, and took 15 minutes and much drool and grunting, and crawled about 4 feet across our big bed, to get to Daddy. I was !

Neither of my DD's ever did that. Maybe he'll be an athlete someday!

Babyproof NOW!

Dd was crawling at 5 months and was pretty easy going, she just wanted to follow me.

Ds was crawling at 3 months (yes, not fun!) and was really just in it to get in to trouble! And he was fast. Now he's almost 3 and is very much a mover and athlete. Kid could climb by 4 months and hasn't stopped yet.

DS was crawling commando style at 5 months; at four months he rolled off the bed (we got rid of the box springs and frame at that point and just had the mattress on the floor).

Ds3 crawled at 5 months. 5 1/2 on hands and knees.

Wow! Yup, mobile baby time! I am dreading it. My 5 mo old can somehow move himself (commando style) about a foot where he is laid down. I am dreading when he will be officially mobile to the point where he can get to where he wants, b/c our house is like legoland. There are so many legos, I'm really peeved at my older two boys for not being better about keeping track of their legos.

Wow! With these early crawling babies, have you put them on their tummies a lot? Or not really? I've just been thinking a lot lately about how babies learn to crawl.

I have a feeling babies who get a lot more belly time probably do crawl sooner. DS3 is a belly sleeper and loves belly time b/c it is, "normal" for him. I've seen other babies scream and cry if they are laid on their bellies, usually they are back sleepers and just prefer to be on their backs. DS1 was my only back sleeper and he was slow to learn to crawl, but then maybe he was just spoiled too, b/c we carried him a lot.
