Help! At my wits end with my 13 month old

Okay, so last night was really hard for me...

DS is still nursing (I'm newly pg, so my nipples are a little sore) 3-4 times a day and here's the part this drives me nuts..it seems like ALL NIGHT LONG!

We co-sleep which is fine and something we're comfortable with. Our usual routine goes like this... We usually put him to bed in his room about 9 or so, then he wakes up by 11:45 or so and comes to bed with us. He usually nurses a little and then falls back to sleep. But lately he's been wanting to nurse for 2 or 3 hours at a time. Last night he literally nursed from 11:45-1:45. When I tried to turn over to change positions...he screamed and threw a huge fit! I tried moving him over and let him nurse on the other side, but he was so angry he bit me! I moved away from him for a bit and he just continued to scream and didn't calm down for 45 minutes even when I tried to let him nurse again.

I'm just at the end of my rope. I don't mind nursing a bit during the day or even some at night, but I can't nurse all night long! He is really tied to these things and screams when he doesn't get to nurse. (even during the day).

How do I set loving limits, but keep my sanity so we can keep our nursing relationship? I would really like to keep nursing at least through the winter, but can't keep doing this.

FWIW...my supply is still fine and he's not teething that I can tell. He gets enough solids during the day and we always have a sippy cup of water available during the day and at night in his crib. He does take some cow milk during the day. Any advice is appreciated.

I think Dr. Jay Gordon has a routine for gentle nightweaning.
