Left breast is getting sore alot

Hi all,

I am not sure what to think of this. DD is 8 months and nursing was going fine until about 2 months ago I think. Well it is still going fine on one side of the breast But the left side is getting sore and cracked(more looks like 1 or 2 slices on the nipple at times) with dry flakes at times and a rash looking thing at the bottom of the nipple. This is an on and off thing, but happens what seems like 1-2 times a month. It hurts worst than the newborn stage. I am back to using lanolin. This also seemed to happen after the time I was pumping and didn't realize that my nipples was a dry. I was wondering why it was hurting like it did and when I stopped pumping I notice my nipple looked like it was getting pulled apart(with the slices on the nipple) and blood was on it, almost like was suctioning the blood out of my skin.

Any help with this or is this how it is going to be from now on

Breast still have 3 raw slits in it. When ever DD1 nurses on that side besides it hurting on the breast for a while...a wierd tingling feeling moves down my leg to the bottom of my foot where it tingles for a little while.

So should I try a nipple shield? I am always hesitant to nurse on that side and avoid it until I feel my breast is getting too full..

Have your tried different postions so she isnt always putting pressure on the same spot so hopefully it heals? Im kinda stumped myself I would try the different positions before a nipple shield personally but if your have tried everything else it is worth a try.
Do you have a fever or any other symptoms? If the tingeling continues I may call your midwife or a LC. Good luck!
