Tips?

My son has been pottying with the under the legs, squat hold since he was 6 months old. He used his BBLP between 4mo and 6mo but decided he preferred to be held. Now he is going to be 2 years old in February and I really want him to sit on a potty since he will be going to pre-school. I have a scotty potty but usually he only sits on half way through his urination. He actually stops his flow and stands up. When this happens I have to finish him by holding him the way we normally do it. He hates sitting on the big toilet and only tolerates the scotty potty for 1/2 his urination. He always wants to be held for poops. What can I do??? He starts school in Feb. I'll probably stay with him for the first month or until he is comfortable but after that he needs to be able to sit. Suggestions?

Start teaching him to aim and stand for the whole pee?

Get him something to hold onto to balance himself into a deep squat like he's used to from being held? Of course that's only going to work with a little potty. (And I don't think the school would go for having him stand on their toilet seats.)

You could also just hope that seeing kids his age using the toilets at school makes him go for it. Like how babies who never nap without nursing end up just drifting off to sleep with no problems in day care.

Also, the horse could talk. It's over a month until February.

Standing might work since he sees daddy stand. They have these little tiny toilets at the school so he could probably stand and aim pretty good. They are just like a regular toilet (with plumbing) only pint sized. :P

Today I tried to get him to sit on his Scotty Potty and he just refuses. I would think the Scotty Potty would be great b/c it is a deep squatting potty. Well, maybe when he matures a little more he will use it. I'll try the standing and see if I can get him to do it. He stands and pees on the floor every now and again (when he has a miss) so I know he can do it well. lol.

It's a cliche, but remember the "float cheerios" trick.

Better yet, get your dh to work with him. Peeing with daddy could be so awesome he doesn't realize he's learning something new.
